Ferrari ... does admit when he's wrong if callers correct him or win the debate. If only James O'Brien did this...
Quote:
I think when Ferrari has scientists on to talk about discoveries he is very respectful of what they have to say and asks interesting questions. He certainly doesn't try to argue with them. And in his arguments with politicians and callers he is usually right and represents the views of most people .
Sorry, but I have to use a full on LOL here! For 'usually right' and 'the views of most people' let us read 'because he says something I agree with', Chief W! I think you seriously undermine yourself when you lay claim to knowing what most people think! Quote:
A winning format which makes him the most listened to radio host in London.
Yeah, but the Sun and the Mail are the most read newspapers... I rest my case!Quote:
If anything, Ferrari is underrated and it seems that many people only realise his brilliance when he is on holiday and someone else has an attempt at hosting the breakfast show.
Are you Nick Ferrari's agent?

Well you'd expect that from some of the chief muppets that front that show to include the fog horn Alex Jones and Matt somethingorother. Ghastly pair.

The last time I heard Ferrari admit he was wrong was over 10 years ago... To be fair, I stopped listening to him, though, when he stopped being that more reasonable presenter and went 'full-tabloid'. One of things that I liked about JOB was that I did used to hear him openly change his mind on air (although again to be fair, I find this has changed more recently in him, too). So IMO, you've got this the wrong way around. Unless of course Ferrari has changed completely since I turned him off, which I doubt. Whenever I inadvertently hear him these days, it's usually only a matter of minutes before he does or says something unpleasant again.

Are you Nick Ferrari's agent? ![]() I don't always agree with Nick's opinions (although I admit I usually do) but in conversations such as his debates with radical Muslim clerics or nutty protesters, snide politicians and student political activists, he definitely has almost the entire country on his side and people like it when he takes these folks to task on their views. You are right about the newspapers and I agree that Ferrari's show is mostly tabloid journalism but if that is what people enjoy listening to then what is the problem? I'm not Ferrari's agent but I am a big fan and daily listener. I think Nick Ferrari is Britain's best radio host and I will defend him from unfair criticism. It seems that almost all of the people who supposedly dislike Ferrari either have never listened to his programme or have listened to his programme many years ago and have now formed an opinion of him which they wish to express every so often! |

... I can't remember James O'Brien ever doing that (although I admit to not being a regular listener of his).

And there you go again. I respect your opinion of Ferrari, but it's impossible to take you seriously when you suggest that you're speaking for 'almost the entire country'. I'm sure you can see why. Quote:

I was making the point that popularity is not a mark of quality. You appeared to be saying that Ferrari being popular meant he was good. I don't agree. Quote:

'Unfair' in your opinion only, of course...

they all have their basic template around which they slot in topics they choose to discuss.
listen a few times and the style, questions, responses of each presenter are highly predictable. so in essence it is very easy to be the host , same formula day in day out and in the case of lbc its pretty much the same limited issues. the highlight of any show is when a caller undermines that formulaic template. You cannot seriously expect a 5 day a week show to have different formulas, especially a breakfast show. People listen at certain times and like to know they will hear a familiar formula/timeframe. The same as the breakfast shows for most other stations. As to the same subjects cropping up, blame the news in general. If the same or similar items are in the news, the show will reflect this. |

Stanley Johnson on with Ken. I find him rather boring, sadly.

As often happens when he's on, it all gets a bit awkward when they start talking about Boris. As Ken remarks, Stanley isn't going to denounce his own son on the radio.
Sometimes personal knowledge and relationships gives us an interesting insight, but with Stanley I feel it stifles proper discussion. Ken doesn't seem to stick the knife in as much (out of respect that he's with Boris' dad?) and Stanley just glosses over stuff. |

It's called discretion. And loyalty perhaps? I'm sure Johnson Sr. would be happy to talk about his son in a non-political context but you can hardly expect him to comment on a current situation on which they disagree.

So Ian Payne moves to 12 noon for 4 hours, Olly Mann moves to 4pm... and who's at 7pm?

Corrie Martin, the Scottish newsreader on this afternoon, is very easy on the ear, and so much better than her male counterpart who sometimes reads the news overnight.

How relaxing (and entertaining and humorous ) the last 4 hours has been - for a change.
What a delightful listen IP is, he's so self-deprecating and honest (compared to some other egotistical, self promoting presenters) and his schoolboy humour is just plainly hilarious! |

IP was good which is more than I can say for Ollie Mann. He started off talking about babies. I thought it was our Bev's speciality subject and, on cue, she phoned in from holiday in Barbados to continue the discussion. Gripping - not!

I think to present on LBC presenters should have more knowledge than Ian Payne. I think the same about Katy Hopkins whose opening opinion seems only to last until she's spoken to a more informed caller.

I accidentally tuned into Olly Mann this evening and he mentioned he has a partner who is a woman. This shocked me because I automatically assumed Mann is gay, by the sound of his voice. But a bigger shock than that was when Mann said he had a female partner who recently had his baby. That means he had sex with her.
Man's so obnoxious, boring and unlikeable as he O'Brien you would imagine they lived alone. That they both managed to get partners who were willing to have sex with them and have children, well you could have knocked me down with a feather

He also failed to point out that we are helping out Syrian Refugees so why should we not help out Falkland Islanders. |
