Maybe he is short with callers because they have not thought about the topic and failed to answer the fairly specific questions he puts to set up the debate. His show is not for callers who just want to repeat whatever the days paper has to say. If dog whistle radio is what you want then JOB is going to grind your gears but if you want to perhaps hear a side of an argument that maybe passes you by then this is a good show.
He is frequently rude to callers but IMO they ask for it a lot of the time. If you call him up and don't have anything constructive to add then you get the rudeness. I hear a lot of things from LBC presenters that annoy me and TBH JOB giving a caller a verbal kicking comes way down the list.”

How does someone ringing a radio station "ask for it " BanglaRoad. I do not recall anyone asking James O'Brien to be rude to them?

Just what is your problem ? This is about the fourth time you've jumped down my throat
You had a dig yesterday at me saying my posts were tiresome
I'm assuming you are doing your best to make me lose my temper and it's not going to happen

It is a turn of phrase. Put it this way, it is the JOB show so up to him and his bosses as to how he runs it. Seems like the folk who pay his wages are happy enough. Callers need to get the message that they had better be clear, concise and constructive if they are going to call.

Steve also had a couple of his own version of musical theatre 'facts' corrected by Don. For someone who has such a love of the theatre you would have that Steve could get at least that right?

The recent interview with Lisa Falconer I found toe-curling, it was 30 minutes of Steve telling her "I can't cook" and her responding "but of course you can .. ".

I purposely did not listen to Marion Keyes, who proclaims herself to be Strictly Come Dancing's biggest fan. She never did it again but the first time she was a guest on It Takes Two she referred to the title of the main show as 'Strictly Ballroom' ... [there is not an emoticon in existence to reflect the depths of this particular gaff .. ]”

This is Venetians reply to that post

AND love you this was my reply I've never made out that every post regarding Steve Allen is "about me "
I merely replied to a poster which I believe I'm allowed to
It's becoming quite obvious you don't like me and I'm fine with that but I've as much right to be on here as anyone else

You mean in the first few seconds or so before he decides they need to be talked over? Some callers barely get a sentence out before he starts. Obviously some people think that's fine and just tough luck to the caller but I think it would be much better radio if he actually gave them time to state their view then answered, you know, like a conversation.

Well he has been doing it for a long time now and the paymasters seem to be ok with it. It's all about the message and not the messenger IMO. Of course some folk don't agree with this but can't see JOB changing his style.

Steve Allen at his ignoarnt worst this morning...... talking about people who use a sleeve or hankie to use when opening a public toilet door....... "I don't know anyone whoever got ill from a door handle"........

Errr....... Novo Virus, one of the most infectious bugs about passed on by dirty so and sos who don't wash their hands and then use the loo door handle, the virus is then passed on to the next bloke who uses the door handle. Allen is a tool. (and not a useful one).

Fair play to Nick Ferarri for having some independent voices on between 8 and 8.30. They were discussing the deal Cameron has struck and the concensus seemed to be that the deal is far from perfect but there are some beneficial points in it. The phrase "the devil is in the detail" cropped up a few times but sadly a lot of the loudest voices in this debate ignore detail and keep hammering away at a set of stock phrases.
Never mind, only 124 days to go...........

Every sentence that Caroline Lucas attempted to utter was faded down by NF in order for him to interrupt.
A caller finished by saying "Whether we like it or not, we're still part of Europe." To which Nick replied along the lines of "Well, we''ll see if that is still the case following the upcoming referendum."
I do wish people would stop confusing 'Europe' with the 'EU'. We will still be part of Europe no matter which way the vote goes.
I predict a love-fest between NF and Boris. Yuck.

He does seem to have gone from being germphobic to strangely relaxed about public hygiene; toilet door knobs, sandwich makers wearing gloves etc. One thing you could never accuse Steve of is consistency.

He seems to spend a lot of time with his new friend Jordan. Hmm, love is in the air?

Morning all.

Missed Caroline Lucas but in Ferarri world she is a tree hugging, sandal wearing, add your own insult here hippy and therefore only exists for the unthinking to mock.

Ferarri should have listened to Clive Bull last night to know why it makes no difference to a security threat to the UK if we leave the EU.

The argument that there will be increased risk to national security is a red herring. Norway didn't do very well in stopping Anders Brevik from murdering 77 people, many of them children. Britain's UK foreign policy is more likely to influence terrorism activity than whether Britain leaves or stays in the EU.

Tightening up border controls will never stop a determined would be terrorist.

Oh dear. The first two callers have not made a glowing case for why the English seem to struggle with identity. Old lady talking rubbish about passports and then a guy moaning about Alex Salmond being on LBC.

Prediction. Over the next few days or weeks, LBC's very own little Lord Fauntleroy, young master Brian (aged 44) will launch into several pro-EU rants.

Gotta give some credit to Ferrari for trying to present a balanced program on the EU referendum but the arguments of some of his callers are truly shocking.

I'd much prefer to hear from the 'undecideds' rather than those who have already taken an in/out stance. It's this group who will make the difference.

Yeah. There are about one third who will vote leave no matter what, about the same number will be unwaged from voting remain. Nothing will change how these two blocks will vote and the rhetoric will not change.
I want to hear from more non political who do not have a dog in the race (see how I got that in) and can give a view which is based on fact instead of ideology.

And, as the US has become increasingly aware, you can't legislate against the lone nutter with a grudge, who is usually a member of the community.
