"Proper principled politics? Pull the other one" - Brian is getting more unprofessional by the week. Does he dislike Boris so much as he reminds him of the posh boys at school, the ones who flushed young Brian's (age 14) head down the loo at his public school?

Oh dear. The first two callers have not made a glowing case for why the English seem to struggle with identity. Old lady talking rubbish about passports and then a guy moaning about Alex Salmond being on LBC.
I don't think it's we English who struggle with our identity. It's everyone else who struggles with it. If official forms ask for nationality, surely it's because they want to know where we're from. If 'British' but not 'English' is allowed, that doesn't mean anything. You could be from Timbuktu yet still be British. It no longer has any meaning, IMO.

The question was why do the English seem to have a problem with identity when the other nations have a strong and visible one. My passport says I am British. So what? It does not dilute my Scottish heritage and culture in the slightest.

Exactly. Being labelled 'British' tells us nothing about you so why use it?

Who uses their passport to define their identity? Only person who may ever see it apart from the passport holder will be some bleary eyed and totally disinterested immigration official somewhere and they could not begin to care if it says British or Scottish or English.
Put it another way. Do you think that having English instead of British on passports somehow deliver this identity that seems to be lacking?

Someone who has piggy little eyes would be well advised not to mention that Boris has piggy little eyes

Prediction. Over the next few days or weeks, LBC's very own little Lord Fauntleroy, young master Brian (aged 44) will launch into several pro-EU rants.
Yes, and anything anti 'Farridge' no doubt. Pure ammunition for it.

Brian is rather an objectionable and classless berk. He has such an obvious envy for Boris. It's all high pitched voice and talking to himself as usual this morning. Embarrassing for Brian, embarrassing for LBC.

I look forward to hearing J O'B's thoughts on the referendum. I think he's made it clear that he's in favour of staying in but he's a big fan of Michael Gove, (yes, I know Gove's a Tory) who has written the best defense of choosing Brexit I've read. It's thoughtful, principled and couched in the kind of reasoned language which will have James' face screwed up in indecision, like a discarded piece of chip paper!
I got that right!

He's going a bit OTT with his dislike of Boris. Name-calling and personal insults indicate a certain desperation to make a point. We've gone from 'fish-face Farridge' to 'piggy-eyed Boris'. Nice!

Brilliant, Brian goes very, very quiet as a caller talks about flushing heads in the toilet, or as he calls it "bogwashing"

I'm surprised anyone phones O'Brien's show, he treats his callers abominably, has no respect for them at all, harasses them, and rejoices in making them look stupid. Horrible little man.

JO'B's personal perception and obvious dislike of Boris adds nothing to the debate.

IC's discussion, last night, on the same topic was interesting & informative - IMO, I hasten to add

A Very Happy Birthday to Martin - the unchallenged sexiest poster

...and he is getting worse by the week. He is going to have an on air meltdown soon at this rate.

Did you hear the last caller before 11 am news? Keith. He was anti EU but made intellegence points and questions clearly. JOB said he should call every day. He was treated with respect because he added to the debate and had constructive points.

Pretty poor performance from James O'Brien with the caller Greg(?) - Almost Boris like in its bombast, bluster and pointless shouting down. Such a pity that he resorts to that when such behaviour is intellectually beneath him.

Fortunately redeemed by the following caller or it would have been one of the rare occasions when I switch him off.

Loved that - especially, the tone he used.

James' heart wasn't in it, though. He kept his temper, throughout - apart from talking down to the light bulb man......

Drat, I missed that answering the door. My mini obsession with EU rules is light bulbs!

And if you don't do that you deserve to be treated like something JOB has found on the sole of his shoe? JOB ignores the demographic of his listeners

What are you getting at with the demographic of the listeners?

Brian is talking about people getting "cross" with him. Brian lives in a million pound plus house in an 80% white enclave but thinks he is Che Guevara. What on earth is he droning on about now? He's talking about what he finds "politically frustrating". Hilarious stuff.

So? You don't need to be to make a coherent and intellegence point on a radio phone in.
