The problem with labour being a basket case run by a 66 year old student activist is that it gives the Torys essentially free reign to do what they like since they know labour is not currently a threat on any level (London mayor elections aside). The doctors dispute is a good example. I doubt Hunt would be so complacent if he was being properly savaged in the commons by a competant opposition.
Yes, I'm afraid whilever we've got Jeremy thinking that reading out questions from Maureen in Bognor about why the Number 87 bus route got scrapped is effective opposition the tories will continue to ride roughshod over them.

Your right JOB journalist work regarding the Hillsborough tragedy and getting to the truth for the victims is legendary...........NOT!!

He wears other people/nations tragedy like a fashion garment just like most of the luvie London left do, JOB is a foul little radio bully who hates others opinions and is not a journalist in any shape or form.....

No doubt he will turn up in Nagasaki and feel the pain of the Atomic bomb survivors on next years family holiday, he as done Anne Franks and the river Kwai but there's lots on the list for the JOB faux sypathy tour.
^^^ this.

I didn't listen this morning because I didn't want to throw up my breakfast, but I gather James did an interview with actor Matthew Perry. I dread to think of him getting into fanboy mode on that one. It's bad enough listening to him licking Jamie Oliver's backside so I dread to think what he was like with a real life Hollywood actor. *puke*.

Can anyone explain the phenomenon of JOB getting the Newsnight "Gig" (a JOB'ism for "job").

Whether you love or hate him, it is hard to disagree with the fact that he is not a typical BBC presenter. When you consider all Newsnight presenters, old and new, he stands quite separate eg, very vocal left wing views (impartial BBC?), known to be quite unpleasant and rude to callers he disagrees with on his LBC program, has hosted a rubbish failed daytime ITV program and has a very deadpan presenting style.

Not sure what went on with the Jeremy Hunt interview, but it was bizarre with them both standing up and JOB sweating a lot. He said it was a condition imposed by Jeremy Hunt but I suspect Paxman would have just refused.

Am I missing something?
Yep Newsnight is mostly left -wing under the ex-Guardian man Ian Katz. With James O'Brien being so vocally anti Ukip he fits right in on that front too.

Oh and he is certainly no Paxman!

Sam Delaney on TalkRADIO Drive: "I asked Ken Livingstone to come onto the programme and he said he would not be speaking to the media until his LBC show on Saturday. He has created his own scoop!"

How does that work?...Newsnight was presented for many years by Paxman, who is a self confessed Tory supporter. You seriously believe that he would have been happy to put a lefty slant on everything he presented? And being anti-Ukip doesn't automatically imply you must be a raving leftie either.

This has been a great week for LBC, and I don't think it's over yet. I wonder if Iain Dale will interview Ken Livingstone again this afternoon.

I don't think saying unpleasant things is enough to get you sacked from LBC. It hasn't been for Ken Livingstone anyway. He was on Question Time calling the 7/7 terrorists freedom fighters a few months ago.

Iain is interviewing Boris ... I'm sure he'll have something to say on the Ken situations.

Sadiq Khan must be banging his head against a wall. The election is only a week away.

They won't but LBC need to put Ken in his place and not condone his actions.

It one thing being controversial or sailing close to the wind but Ken has been out and out racist.

Maybe he could do a show from the toilets at LBC towers.

Judging by the polls he's got it pretty well sewn up. And the postal votes from Tower Hamlets are probably already counted!

Ken's now suspended from the Labour party after saying Hitler was a Zionist.

Whatever that is. As a former KL supporter it's hard to believe what he's said. Has he completely lost it? But then what he said exactly 3 years ago to a Jewish journalist about him being like a 'concentration camp guard', one does wonder whether KL has been a closet nazi all along and has only now become more vocal. It's bizarre.

Ken seems to have lost the plot. His lifelong passion for newts must have finally turned his head.

I always assume when reading there might be a disability etc and do not pick on people in case I am being rude. Do you do the same ?
No. I automatically assume it's laziness by someone typing out a response on their mobile phone like they would with text speak. Particularly when they don't punctuate properly or capitualise at the beginning of sentences.

Call me old fashioned but that makes it harder to read when scanning through, and very occaisionally I feel it's worth pointing this out so that next time someone might get a fair crack at the whip with what may well be very reasoned content. After all I'm nothing special and if I think this I'm sure plenty of other people do too.

As I said. I rarely comment on such things. I'm fairly easy going and usually hold my tongue when I see this kind of post instead of commenting. This was a fairly long and unclear example to have to try and trek through though.

Well in JOB's world it's a binary issue. If you want the UK to take in refugees you are nice; if you do not you are nasty. It's not a very grown up style of debate is it?
There is a third way. You want the country to take in refugees, but you do not want to house the refugees yourself. That's the JOB way.
BiB. Today J O'B immortalized yet again his cliché, "Shut the door". Do you think he's watching Larry Grayson's DVD's?
FGS why doesn't his producer ask him to 'change the record'?

You may be premature thinking that. Have you not heard the racist/xenophobic bile that comes out of the mouths of other male and female LBC presenters?? I count around 5 anti Muslim and one anti Israel....on the station...

Well, he could certainly use a touch of humour. Though I suspect he would laugh at his own jokes too much.

Surely if there was "racist/xenophobic bile" it would be brought before Ofcom. As you seem to listen quite a bit, do you not have a record of all this? Or it could just be that it's all in your mind.

There are a few who do other work outside LBC and never heard any of them taking it to the extreme as Ken Livingstone has done. I expect with his views LBC contract will be terminated. It's not the first time his mouth has got the better of him. I'm sure Global
will be reviewing this and David Mellor will have a view on his Saturday show.

Iain Dale hyped up the interview with the historian who wasn't named until the time of the interview, which was over half an hour after it was announced. The interview seemed to be very short.
