With regard to Ken Livingston being sacked....or unsuitable for our consumption.....JOB nailed it this morning when a caller/tweet suggested just that.
JOB pointed out that a 10am slot stand in presenter , Katy Hopkins has said things which are extremely disturbing......and yet she remains. Does she not?

Yes but JOB (and UNHCR) are perfectly capable of understanding which Refugees are 8 year old children and which Refugees are 30 year old men with beards.
So that gives them a significant advantage when compared to you.

Personally, I wouldn't employ her either however, whilst Katie is unpleasant and controversial she has never IMO been racist. Ken has and needs to go.

Ken Livingston's problem is that he thinks that there will be an intellectual discussion of his words which will take place before there is any question of him being disciplined for controversial language.
For example: this post on our forum earlier today:
"But you haven't answered my question - is it antisemitic in your view to state that German Zionists and the Nazi state came to an agreement in 1933 about Jewish emigration to Palestine? "

But what possible discussion could there be about a "journalist" (?) who thinks that Libyan women who are stepping onto Death Trap boats (with their children).....because what lies behind them is even more terrifying.........are "Cockroaches".........??

So Ken should expect intellectual discussion about something he is factually wrong about but there's no debate about anything anyone else has to say? They're just wrong?

As for Hopkins, I have no time for her self promoting antics. She is of no significance. What she says and writes mean nothing.

Ken however wants to very involved in politics and is a very dominate character in the Labour Party. He could be in a position of importance and influence. He is anti semitic. I find him a much more worrying proposition.

Ken L on ITV news last night made it clear he was going to give his interview on LBC this morning to DM & Michael Crick. His trite remark as he went in his house was, he had to go and attend to his ponds as he had to move some newts!
And I thought Boris was bad enough in 'playing' clown at the taxpayers expense..

I'm hoping Michael Crick gives him s good grilling at least. Mellor won't. He'll be all 'oh Ken. Surely you don't mean it ? ....'

There's not much left for him to say that he hasn't said already. Perhaps he didn't mean to be antisemitic, but in that case, as a public figure, he should learn to choose his words more carefully.

I keep hoping his supporters on the thread will turn up and defend him but they've gone very quiet. Nick Griffin has tweeted his support!

Ken is too long in the tooth to not know what he was saying. He knew exactly what was coming out of mouth. He just can't help himself and his arrogance is disgusting. Who, in the middle of a furore, manages to plug their own radio show to journalists ? !!

And that is why his natural defenders here are not showing him unconditional love. He is not afraid of an academic discussion of his comments and he does not consider himself to be anti-Semetic. A Yale History Professor has taken issue with Ken by saying that he should have referred to plans to move Jews to Palestine becasue Israel did not exist in 1932.

If the Labour Party choose to throw him out it will be because he is not telling the truth about his preference for gardening. His preference is to be walking down the street surrounded by a mob of reporters hanging onto his every word in the hope that next days headlines are moments away. If Ken continues to perform that trick he is/will be an unwelcome diversion for both Corbyn and for whoever fights the 2020 General Election.

I am not seeing a problem with his radio career. I will say it again. No matter what he says.....no matter which journalists he insults......he is nowhere near the gutter level bar kindly calibrated by the odious Katy Hopkins.

Perhaps these 'supporters' (assuming there are any) are waiting to hear what he says in a few minutes. What a novel idea!

And let's not forget that his problems began when he rushed to the defence of Naz Shah, whose comments on social media were most definitely antisemitic.

Yes, in my opinion Naz Shah is young, naive and perhaps history is not her strong point. Ken should know better and I view his comments as stupid and selfish, especially considering the timing of them. He is desperately trying to defend the indefensible.

I heard the interview with Vanessa live. I also heard her interview with John Rentoul the day after, who said pretty much exactly the same things as above. I think the same.
