The first hour was brilliant, and much better than I expectedafter . I've noticed the introductions are hyperbolic but the show gets calmer when Katy is conversing with callers.

I've been listening to NF every morning for years and I've never heard him do anything remotely like "chummy cockney diamond geezer". In fact I've never head him speak any differently from his normal voice.

Are you mistaking him for James OB who openly admits that he puts on a mockney accent when speaking 'tradesmen'?

Perhaps you can bookmark the LBC Homepage under Schedule. This gives full details of the presenters for the week ahead.

J O'B gets really peeved after Katie Hopkins has been standing in for him. He even managed to drag her name up in a direct comparison to Ken L's major gaffe. He said both of them were "disturbing". How can you compare apples with oranges when Hopkins is hired to be deliberately controversial unless our politicians are following suit.?

At least KH has entertainment value. After today's spectacular offerings from other presenters - Shelagh did a follow-up to Castle's 'no resuscitation' topic, just dire - I might be listening to Hopkins. Call me cheap if you like.

I know. That's the JOB logic though. I wonder if he will conflicted about kids stay at home tomorrow. May well be a whole lot of sighing going on.

I've enjoyed her two-day stint very much. Nobody could call her boring or predictable.

Well I am talking about his voice changing dramatically whenever he is talking about Muslims, Foreign Aid, Student Representatives.....to "my listeners", who will not be happy about the latest attack on White and/or British Taxpayers/avoiders....

It was interesting Monday to hear a caller slam religion of all faiths, Andrew Castle was a little speechless and didn't know what to say when she asked why fairytale have never been on the school curriculum....yet Religious Studies have been for decades...

I enjoyed Katie H's contribution, yesterday She hosted a lively debate & was polite to all callers ! Take note, James

I almost nodded off, during AC & was very disappointed that Shelagh had not taken her Bank holiday......

Happy Tuesday to everyone x

Me too. I'm not on Twitter and don't read the DM, so my only exposure to KH has been on LBC. I was expecting a ranting non-PC tirade from what her critics say, but instead I found her courteous, amusing and most of all - engaged. Not using the time the caller was speaking to rummage through the papers or stir her tea, only to ask at the end, a question which had already been answered had she been listening. Nor was she trying to point score if the caller had a different view. A good addition I would say.

Cue for her detractors to storm on here and post links to her more unfortunate pronouncements. She says what she thinks and sometimes it's not what some people want to hear. There's also a tendency just to read the headlines or take what she says out of context. I agree with her a lot of the time, although not always.

I agree with you that she's a good addition to LBC.

Morning all.

I was interested in KH's reference to her time spent at Sandhurst and was ready to assume she'd been there on some sort of journalistic exercise, but no, she was a bona fide recruit and did the biz until a medical condition intervened . So she's apparently not the airhead we've been encourage to believe she is. She can still talk and write rot on occasion though, but so can everybody else.

Hmmm......Not sure Cayce. My impression was that he was challenging a listener who was saying that Ken's LBC job was at risk because of his public comments. And I think JOB was right (that the presence of KH makes it unlikely that KL could be sacked for saying something controversial in his day job).

See!
That was almost balanced.
And Reasonable.

I think LBC will hang on to Ken because he's caused controversy, not in spite of it. I'd guess that weighed favourably in the balance when they took on KH, although I don't think they'd be so cynical as to employ her had she not been a good broadcaster.

T'was not the LBC hierarchy I was thinking of in regards to Ken keeping his job or not. I agree with you though on James giving an answer to the caller which he obviously deemed appropriate but, he riled me by suggesting Ken L - a so-called 'serious' politician - could be compared with Katie Hopkins in the same breath. The latter is not attempting to be a politician, as far as I know . Different strokes for different folks...and all that. The bugbear is Livingstone and his toxic remarks, I expect a politician to be more responsible towards the electorate.
In fact Livingstone is the one who galls me having been a long-term listener to Ken & Dave's show.

I agree with you from LBC's POV of hanging on to Ken, they'll bask in listening figures from the controversy. Perhaps I should have been more explanatory in my original post by saying from a listener's perspective I've finally lost respect for the newt/reptilian-loving.. old fool. A big disappointment.

I think over the years he has been on LBC he has re-created himself as almost a 'cuddly Ken' image. However, going by his comments over the past few days, he maybe showing his true colours again.
