I couldn't find a thread for this, so figured I'd start one.

Pillowtalk was a bit middle of the road as a debut (understandably, he needed a big hit to start off) but I'm actually rather intrigued by some of the other things I'm hearing from his album.

The song he debuted on Jimmy Fallon, It's You, sounds like Frank Ocean and Radiohead had a baby with Lana del Rey's cinematic sound or something. Very haunting, and his vocals are good if mumbly.

His producer also shared a snippet from another song called Drunk All Summer on Instagram which sounds good.

Anyone else reluctantly looking forward to this album?

No reluctance from me. Think Pillowtalk was a strong opening to an album campaign and I like It's You too. Really looking forward to it

Reluctance? Don't get me started on the music snobbery prevalent on this forum. NO reluctance here! As I opined in another thread (which quickly escalated as per usual lol - see my 2nd sentence here) Pillowtalk totally surprised me - a superb debut single and unlike his ex-band's singles it has stuck around proving he isn't just attracting 1D fans. I never thought I would ever say this about an ex Wand Erection member but I am intrigued to hear the album.

The new song he debuted on Fallon is again surprisingly great.

I can't wait either. I think he will be the one with the most successful music career. I think Harry will have some success with music but head off into acting eventually. Louis will end up on X Factor as a judge and the other two will disappear.

So its all about Zayn. I do love the sound of Drunk All Summer.

The Irish one may end up carrying the bag for his best mate Rory. You heard it here first

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm looking forward to the album. Pillowtalk really surprised me...I really liked it. I wish he hadn't gone as pop as that, but it was his debut so he needed a song like that to grab attention, and it's good. I much prefer It's You. His vocals on it are so deep and raspy and I love his tone. Hearing lots of good things about the album.

The one thing I hope he works on is his diction. It can be hard to hear what he's saying at times but the tone he has is gorgeous. I just hope he does well, he may be a bit of a dick at times but I think his voice deserves success.

I don't like the song as a whole but I really like his verse in Chris Brown's new song too.

Lol, I hear you. There's a lot of snobbery on this forum. Pillowtalk really grew on me, one of those songs where the first couple of times I heard it I was not too into it and then it clicked and I played it on repeat. Very good debut, if you ask me. I'm looking forward to hearing what else he does, he's surprising me - It's You is incredible - which is a welcome thing.

Gosh, me too. It took me a while to figure out that he was saying 'bed all day' on Pillwotalk, I thought he was saying 'better day'. I think he means it to be his 'signature' but it slides into being a bit too much and if he found a balance it'd be great.

I am probably in the minority when I say that Pillowtalk didn't really impress me, he was trying too hard to move far as possible from boyband days with swearing and naked women in the video.

BUT I really do like It's You so I am interested in his album. I just hope he works on his pronunciation, it is so bad sometimes. What is worse, he proved he can sound normal on that Chris Brown remix.

I must say his management is doing a hell of a job, most artist would kill to be in his shoes. First performance on Fallon, Chris Brown remix, Billboard article etc. He is one lucky dude!

His new manager Sarah is excellent. She looks after quite a few other big stars too.

Had a reasonably good start with pillow talk and made a fairly good impression with it and then featured on that abysmal disgrace 'f*ck you back to sleep' and lost all respect forthwith.

The acoustic of Pillowtalk is also much clearer than the released version.

The diction thing is clearly his schtick. I mean, Amy Winehouse wasn't exactly the best at diction but she was still brilliant. George Ezra is another with less than perfect diction (to say the least lol).

Does he really write at least some of his songs? Did he write pillow talk?

This new song of his is excellent. Definitely the most immediate of the three for me. I'm even more excited for the album if that song is a bonus track of all things.

I was looking for this topic yesterday and couldn't find it.

He has completely won me over. I'm very excited for his album.

I love Like I Would, best of the three songs for me. He has kicked off his career with three great songs. I even like his verse in that awful Chris Brown song. Very much looking forward for the rest of the album in a couple of weeks. Funny thing i read, apparently the new song is something that could have been put on any One Direction album and wouldn't sound out of place. I don't see it personally.

Yeah I'm not hearing the 1D comparisons at all, they've never done anything that sounded like this.

I suspect the other 1D boys are maybe kicking themselves that Zayn had the guts to leave and do his own thing first. I can't see any of the others managing to pull it off. I don't think any of the others have a strong enough musical identity. There was always something intriguing about Zayn from day one and it was always obvious that the music 1D were doing was not his thing. I know Harry seems to be the favoured one, however I can't see him pulling off a solo career.

I think Harry will do ok, largely because i believe he will stick to the sound that made them. I don't think he will be able to grow a fan base outside of the one he currently has

Sounds like 1D?? Seems to be the line trotted out by detractors with each release and it's nonsense IMO. If this just a bonus track it certainly bodes well for the album...

Apparently this sounds like the new song. Is it just me or does it sound nothing like it?

Sounds completely different. Different genre as well.
