Amazons web site said it will be in stock on the 29th if you can wait that long or the model with the voice remote is available now if you don't mind spending an extra £10

I was going to get one of these, to give me more choice, to compliment my existing Now TV, but, it seems, they only work with wifi, which is a bit sucky, as my pc, is too old to run wifi, despite, me having a router super hub thing that virgin upgraded me to

roku 3, are pretty pricey just to get Netflix and Amazon Prime on the tv, but I guess, that is the only option, and I would just have to switch, the Ethernet to the other roku box

What has your PC being too old to run WiFi got to do with a FireTV stick, or have I missed something?

Isn't the Roku 3 the only major player that allows Netflix, Amazon Vids 'and' NowTV?

(And is there something wrong with your "," key?)

Must admit as I’m using both Roku and Amazon sticks the Roku has less problems staying connected to wifi than the Amazon stick but it could be that I was unlucky and had a AFS delivered that’s a bit deaf but also when it comes to the UI for catch up TV the Roku wins hands down for me.

As long as the Firestick and your PC are connected to the same router that is all that is required for them to communicate with each other. Matters not whether that router connection is WiFi, ethernet cable or a bit of damp string. All that matters is that both devices are visible to each other over the same network.

Your PC will connect to the router via Ethernet and the Firestick will connect to the router via wifi and they will talk to each other via the router as normal.

If your PC has a usb port you can easily add WiFi to it.

... but as above, you don't need to. The fewer wireless connections the better when streaming.

well put it this way in response to the comments

I have a wifi hub , it does not connect to the pc at all, it only connects via cable, and will not work without it

I didn't understand that to be the point of wifi, as I thought, wirless connection meant exactly THAT

the vm customer service guy stated, I would probably need, an adapter/dongle thing that some have reference, as he thought my pc, too old to just find the signal

with now tv it, was the same( am sure this, also has a wifi option) but without the ehernet plugged in, it could not find anything

If the PC is connected to the hub whether via Ethernet cable or wireless then it will connect to the Firestick (as long as the Firestick connects to the hub okay), you do not need a wireless connection to the PC.

The PC very probably does not have a WiFi adapter hence why you can only use a cable connection. If the PC and router are close together and don't move around very much then WiFi is pointless. A cable connection is often more reliable and secure anyway.

The Now TV box does indeed have WiFi. Though like the PC if the box is close to the router you may as well use a cable. Lot less hassle to set up as well. No searching for the router's Wifi signal and then entering the security password trying to figure out if that I is an upper case i or a lower case L

Just because the router has WiFi does not make it obligatory that every thing has to connect via WiFi. Anything that is basically static and close(ish) to the router may well be better off connected by cable anyway.

can I ask the above poster, another quick question

can I get a roku 3, and just plug it, in to the second hdmi port , but use, the same ethernet cable and switch it, when I am not using now TV or will the online regristry required just interfere with two different online regristries

I would not have thought so personally, as they would weclome the revenue, but am not a tecchy, so don't know for sure

Not entirely sure what you mean by registry (only two "r"s by the way ).

If you mean registering for a subscription to the various streaming services then there won't be any conflict. You just use the same login details on both boxes, you don't have to create separate id's for each.

Also why not just connect the two boxes separately? Most routers have four ethernet ports and so far you only seem to be using two so there should be two free.

it, would be dedacent at present as I have an upcoming holiday, and am on reduced wages, owing to a period off work, the ethernet cable, is like 10 metres and cost about £15, in order to run it sucessfully from one room to another so it's an unnecessary expense at present but thanks for your help dude

£15 for a 10m ethernet cable! Is it made from solid 24 carat gold or something? Or maybe the sales person mistook you for a mug who will pay any old rip off price for a bit of copper wire?

A 10m cable should cost a couple of quid at the most.
