Smartphone lost connections.
We have 3 smartphone and 2 tablets in the household all Samsung.
We also have a windows laptop. Periodically the smartphone and tablets lose the connection to the Sky router. The router is not losing the connection to the net as the laptop still works OK. The only way to cure the problem is to reboot the router and everything works OK until it happens again. The problem appears to be totally random as to when it happens. Anyone got any ideas as to what is causing this as it's becoming annoying. |

1. Have I posted this in the most appropriate section of the forums.
2. All our equipment is connected by wireless but we also have the Sky box hard-wired to the router. |

It could just be WiFi congestion - lots of other wireless networks using overlapping channels. There isn't much you can do about it. Does your Sky router allow you to choose what channels it uses for WiFi?
What puzzles me is it never affects my laptop and very rarely on my Galaxy S3 but the tablets and 2 other galaxy phones suffer quite a bit. |

Yes it does and I have used a WiFi analyser to pick one of the less used channels

There is a wifi setting that allows wifi to be on or off when the phone is asleep, it may be that if the wifi is set to go off and the phone wakes up it is not connecting back to the wifi, might be with checking in the advanced settings in wifi.
This is a totaly random problem. It very occasionally happens to my phone but much less than their's. |
