You mean Kodi?

What do you want to use it for? DVD rips? 4K? Internet streaming?

I would say the Nvidia Shield. it's not the cheapest but spec wise and for furure proofing (4K output for Netflix / Youtube etc) it can't be beaten.

Depends on what you want it for. OP may not want the hassle of sideloading XBMC/Kodi onto the FireTV Box and may not want to use Plex.

(But, yes, I have 2x FireTV Sticks and have no doubt that the Box is a decent piece of kit based on my experiences with those.)

I use the Fire TV and yesterday the software was updated so that I can see Kodi on my apps so don't have the pain of going through settings/manage/launch. A few months ago I installed ES File support and you can download Kodi without sideloading.

So today Amazon Fire TV does become a sensible option fr those not technically informed and having to use adb etc. The other advantage I find using Kodi as opposed to Plex and Emby is that I do not require a server and can access my films, TV and media from my WD Cloud.

Really? I can't see Kodi anywhere on either of mine. Likewise on the Amazon app store online :/
