TomTom satnav app on tablet
My TomTom satnav died so I decided to try the TomTop Go app on my tablet instead, it costs £15 per year and reputedly gives real time info on traffic jams etc.
Shortly after setting it up and using it on my tablet it gave me a spoken warning of delays on the M1, but I'm puzzled as to how it did this because the tablet is not connected to the Internet when it's in my car. I do have a smartphone but it wasn't acting as a wireless hotspot for the tablet at the time. I could understand the app doing this if it was running on my phone as that has an Internet connection. Could it just be it's getting the info from FM radio signals or whatever it is that can give a physical TomTom traffic info - I used to have a long lead that was supposed to receive this info on my old TomTom |

Only if your tablet has an FM radio receiver with RDS capabilities built in.

You passed a free wi-fi hotspot that the tablet was able to use. I hear my tablet pinging all the time as I drive around.
