It looks too artificial IMO and is very distracting. Does anyone have it turned on?

Not sure what you're talking about, are they TV picture viewing modes?

Yes on Samsung TVs they are called Motion Control or Film Mode.

They give a smoother picture but they look artificial and 'filmic' or 'soap opera' effect.

Haven't got a Samsung so don't know what they look like.

My Panasonic has its own viewing modes but I rarely use them, instead I have set up my own custom settings.

On Panasonic TVs it is called Cinema Smoother. You can find it under "Motion Picture Setting."

This article explains the process.

I experimented with the Motion Control on my Samsung (UE40D6530) when it was new, as it wasn't doing the biz set to off when watching fast action scenes on blu-rays in particular, and eventually via the Custom sub-menu found settings that suited me, and that I've kept for the last 4 and a half years.
