Ok so I have a cob who is totally afraid of vets. Usually can get by with it .
Today though vet had to give up and leave without treating her.
She has an ulcerated wound on her hind left near the fetlock and vet came out last week to see her. They only gave her antibiotics as didn't want to sedate and Clip late at night .
Wound has not healed at all and horse won't let me do anything with it so vet came out today to sedate and remove all feather so wound could heal ( still sticky and moist under the heavy feather ) but all went wrong and she ended up on the floor in a paddy . Couldn't get near her.
She is the sweetest mare going until a vet or trailer is involved. Today was the worst ever 😁She's had a few bad experiences and is just getting worse and worse.
I'm at wits end and don't know how to help make things less stressful for her and less dangerous for those around her.
She responds to the twitch very well but getting a twitch on her is dangerous in itself.
Sedalin doesn't work with her and domosedan needs putting under the tongue which is a no go.
I'm worried it's going to spill in to everything needing doing for her. At moment she is good with farrier and for everything else Exept loading which is a major issue.

Any advice greatly received willing to try anything to help her. She is a good mate apart from these issues. She's going to seriously hurt someone 😟

If she's good for the farrier. can't the vet visit with the farrier and they work together to clip the fetlock?

Hmm, tough one. Is the vet an equine vet or a more general one? I've found proper equine vets are far more straight to business than ones that deal all animals.

I'm not saying by any means that you're scared of her, but is there someone you trust who could deal with her and the vet? I only say this as I had issues with my horse and the vet. The one time I couldn't be there (for sedation and xrays) she was good as gold. Think my anxiety over how she would behave set her off.

Did the vet have no idea how to help? Thinking about the equine vet we used, she'd never have left a horse who needed treatment without doing something.

Does she react when she sees the vet or just when the vet starts doing stuff? I hope you find a solution to it. Breaks you're heart when they need help but you they won't let you give it.

This might work. Leave everything ready for when the vet arrives and let him/her know that you are going to stay out of sight (and possibly earshot) and they would probably need an assistant. I have found, to my embarrassment, on more than one occasion, that the vet managed a lot better when I wasn't there as I would be nervous, expecting the worst, and of course it was. Good luck.
