i have had a PVR 9200 for over 10 years and I love it! However, it was getting rather poorly and needed a new hard disk drive.

I rang Humax and they basically told me to consign it to the dustbin as they could not advise of a suitable hard disk replacement.

However, after much searching of the internet, I found a post saying that a Seagate ST3500312CS combined with a StarTech 40 Pin IDE PATA to SATA Adapter would work.

I took the plunge and bought the parts (about £40 in total from Amazon), and installed them, and my Hummy has been like new for the last month - except that it now has a 500 GB drive instead of a 160 GB drive. Brilliant!

I hope this information is of help to someone else.

Yes, they always want you to buy a new box. The only problem you might find I believe, is only a finite number of programmes can be stored - I'm not sure what that number is though - it might be a problem if you recorded many 5 min cartoons
If it is the same system as the Humax Pvr9150, it will be 511 recordings.
I have successfully replaced the 9150 160GB original SATA drives, with ex sky box 500gb Seagate HDDs, on several occasions - once you have installed the new drive, on switch on, the new drive is formatted with Humax's special data.
