sim free iPhone locked
Guys,
I am looking for a bit of advice on behalf of my uncle. He bought a iPhone 6S sim free from apple. He then left his phone on a plane. He claimed his phone insurance and received a new handset. He then went to Oz and couldn't use a local sim. He is now home and called the insurance company to complain. They say that an iPhone can only be used in the UK. What a load of rubbish. Who should he turn to to fix this? |

Whoever his UK network is should be able to unlock it, there's usually a small fee.

Might be worth bringing it up with the insurer, if it was bought SIM free from Apple they should be able to provide like for like.

Insurerer doesn't understand unlocked devices and has given one with a network lock. The insurerer needs to fix - either by paying network to unlock it, or by replacing handset.
I would be complaining to the insurance, they have not replaced like for like. |

My insurance replacement 6s was from aviva/cpw and is fully unlocked. My original was from EE and locked to them. Go figure.
