I have been on BT Infinity 2 for a few years, and it has generally been very reliable.
I tend to get 74Mb/s in, and 17Mb/s out. A few weekends ago, I did have an issue one evening where it dropped right down to less than 1Mb/s, but I used the BT website diagnostic tool, and it was working fine again the following morning. (I did reboot the Home Hub 3 a few times beforehand with no change.) It's not cheap, but I really can't complain about the service itself. The free BT Sport is useful (SD only), customer services when I have spoken to them are OK, but seem hampered by the system - if that makes sense! I am in London, and close to BT's green cabinet, if that has a bearing on matters. |

The other thing I should add that I find useful is the free BT Smart Talk app that allows me to make calls from my home phone via wifi.
Very useful from abroad when on wifi, avoids all the expensive calls home, and as it is the same tariff as the home line, free to UK landlines all weekend. |

I have had BT infinity for ~2 years now.
My PC is ethernet connected to the hub and it's usually very very good. I have used a splitter to run an ethernet cable to another room and both connections get a speed of 70-74 MBS on an advertised 'up to 75 MBS' contract. However my house is within 100M of a BT green box so it wont be as good if you are further away ... BUT the wireless signal from the HUb is complete bollocks. After complaining to BT about the poor wireless signal they suggested we upgrade to the all singing all dancing Homehub 5 which is much better. It cost £50 for the upgrade and the signal is still shit. So the moral of the story is that if you are prepared to run ethernet wires all over your house then it is very good. If you are relying on the wireless signal then don'y bother because the BT homehub is complete shit. Maybe other houses are different but i can only speak from my own experience. |

since upgrading to infinity 2 my PC connected to hh5 by cable gets around 70 to 75 meg and 18 up.
my speed on the laptop not improved over its wifi still around 50 meg some times down to 5 meg this in same room with router and has 3 to 4 bars. tried changing channels it was even worse to 1 meg so channel 3 works best on there. my LG G3 & G4 connect to 5gz so get the full 74 meg. the laptop does not have 5ghz but this is much faster.

I'm currently with Sky for land rental and broadband unlimited, but am tempted to move to BT broadband because of their current offer.
................... I have no complaints with Sky broadband for reliability or speed, so was wondering what peoples experiences have been with BT broadband because if I change I'm stuck for 12 months. Also, can I use my own router with a BT fibre hub? They (BT) do some very good initial offers - for the first 12 months - but then I found that the price was going to increase a LOT - so I moved to PlusNet! I would says that BT are fine if you don't dislike changing ISP at the end of every contract period (or you REALLY value BT Sport!)!!!! |

Crap pretty much everytime I've used it. Why? General slowness, even slower if someone else in the house is downloading. For all their claims my experience of BT is poor, like the time they haggled a friend who has autism on the phone, so much he gave in to let them take over his phone line from Sky. The equipment arrived late, the equipment didn't fit (filters etc) so he couldn't use the broadband, then they persisted in sending bills for use of service, adding up of course each time, went on and on until we threatened them with legal action on his behalf, actually the mention of Watchdog seemed to do the trick, you'll find BT are on there every week in any case over complaints about them, oh and recently because I am currently relocating, I left details of the services I required package-wise and it said, thank you, we will pass this on to the right team and get back to you... five weeks ago and still waiting - they must really be desperate for the business.

Had no problems with wifi but in the process of switching to plusnet for cheaper fibre.
Had to phone BT as convienantly they hadn't been contacted by plusnet that it would be cancelled - apparently, could be a default thing that you have to call up to be persuaded to stay. Scummy sales person tried to offer us a deal which wasn't much better than plusnet. |

When I moved from Sky to BT, BT knew immediately Sky booked the change. Same when I moved last year from BT to PlusNet (I got mails from BT about the change pretty instantly!) |

The broadband itself is fantastic and very rarely drops but the customer service experience is shocking, the worst I've ever had and I've had TalkTalk, nPower and Orange. |

I would have to disagree with you there, I think the customer service is awful, the Indian call centre is useless, the website is full of bugs and they're ordering system doen't work right, plus when I asked to leave they gave me an offer which they didn't honour.
