Transfer data between old and new Android phones
I'm not very familiar with Android, so I'd like some advice please.
A friend of mine is replacing her old Samsung Galaxy Fame with a Samsung Galaxy J5. They run different versions of Android. I would like to help her transfer as many contacts, texts, photos and WhatsApp data as possible. She has a Google account but can't remember the password. I looked at a Samsung app to transfer data but it doesn't support the older version of Android. Even the Kies application for Windows is different for the two phones. She doesn't have an SD card but we can buy one. Any tips? |

She'll need to find the google account password the phone is using to be able to setup the new phone properly, try a password reset.
Android syncs a lot of data like contacts to the cloud anyway, sign in with the same google account and it should all appear on the new phone, If they are here, they will stay in sync https://www.google.com/contacts whatsapp can be set to do a google drive backup and it's quite easy now to backup and restore https://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/android/20902622 For texts, try something like SMS Backup and Restore |
