This is the first time that we have been in the rather unique position of looking ahead to two series at the same time.
That being the case I though it might be interesting to see which one people are most eager to see.
Below I have listed a few pro/con type points on both series and their potential merits and potential drawbacks. I have tried to stay impartial in this post by listing good and bad possibilities for both series, as my below thoughts are just intended to summarise rather than sway anyone either way. I'm genuinely interested to hear what people think for themselves (will post my own individual view on a later post)
SERIES 10
Series 10 will be Moffats 'swansong' so to speak, and the last time to see a series written by him, with all his particular writing quirks, and possibly the last time to see characters such as Kate Stewart and Osgood, paternoster gang etc, whom Chibnall may not wish to use therafter. Possibly even the last chance to see Capaldi himself in the role.
Alternatively, for those who either don't like his vision of the show or maybe those who do like him but think he should have gone a year earlier will just see it as a Moffat series too many.
SERIES 11
Series 11 of course will be all new and shiny in terms of the idea's and the person in charge coming up with them, as well as possibly being partial change or all change in terms of the lead actors also, making it potentially fun, exciting and fresh feeling.
Alternatively though, new doesn't neccessarily mean good, and although we all hope it will be good, we really have no idea how we might each individually react to the new style. Plus, if the doctor changes, people who really loved 12 may struggle to take to the new actor, and if they love Capaldi with the series 10 companion and they both leave that could make it harder to adjust for them still. On the other side of that, if Capaldi does stay there will be a whole other section of fans who thought he should go with Moffat who won't be happy.
So, just based on what little we know, which are you more eager to see at this point in time?
P.s when you answer, would be interesting to add after your initial answer if you can/want to, whether you think your current opinion may change when we know for sure whether Capaldi and/or series 10 companion stay or go, or is it mainly down to the behind the scenes showrunner team for you?
