The worst part was Goldberg should have won the World title at Summerslam. Hunter sat outside the entire match because he had a groin injury and Bill just killed the rest in the ring batters Hunter then takes a weak sledgehammer shot and pretends to be out cold. God whos who thought that was a good decision. Bill losing at Summerslam should have never happened.

Yes but there comes a point when you get pissed wasting money on tickets when he doesnt drop the belt. Take the Benoit match when Chris won the title it just seemed Hunter got every single title shot till he regained it, which he lobbied for Randy to take the belt so creative knew he wasent ready and just handed it back to him. Same for Goldberg lose the belt then the rematch then give him another rematch so he can just get the belt.

The problem I noticed with Bret hart is that he seemed emotionally scared following Montreal. I know he was in WCW and had some ok matches but I always got the impression his hart wasent in it. I did enjoy his matches and he worked hard most of the time but it just felt he wasent as passionate as he was in WWE. Maybe had the screwjob never happened and Bret had just had his way either drop the belt to Shamrock on TV or a PPV or retired from the belt things might have been different.

I still say Vince was wrong for what he did, I mean Shawn wasent going to be champion after mania so dont really see who it mattered who the Champion was because Steve austin was getting it. If it was me id have had either Shamrock taking the belt from Bret after beating Shawn on Raw in a number 1 contenders match or just booked a triple threat.

I still say Vince absolutely made the right decision to ensure Bret Hart didn't leave that building as champion. It may not have mattered who the champion was but an outgoing Bret Hart had no right to try and dictate who the WWF Champion should be when he wasn't there. Vince wanted Shawn to be his new champion, Bret didn't have to like it but he absolutely should have done his job

From a business standpoint having Goldberg wait until Unforgiven to take the title was the correct move. It had more buys than the 2001 and 2002 editions. Same with WM 2000, when the held off the Rock's first babyface world title win until Backlash. That show did an incredible number.

McMahon did Bret and Eric Bischoff an enormous favour with that. He had momentum heading into WCW, which they never capitalized on. If he hadn't been such a mark he could have sued the McMahons for breach of contract and played the Hogan politics game much better.

Hmmm depends how it's slotted in and who against. I can see Bulletproof/Club (actually don't mind the Bulletproof name, could have been much worse) vs Wyatts set for Mania to replace their Lesnar story.

Viince still refused to honour the contract he had signed with Bret. If Bret wasn't such a mark for the business, he should have just sued WWF.

EDIT: Realised that Lee just said the exact same thing...

Absolutely. If Vince refused to honour a contract, Bret should have sued him.

I still don't believe anybody would allow their top champion out of that building holding their belt knowing he was signing with WCW. And I'd say exactly the same thing if somebody refused to job to anybody the company wanted him to in their final match. If Bischoff, Heyman or even Dixie Carter (who am I kidding, she'd have gift wrapped the title and paid for the airfare to Raw) had done the same thing.

You do know that Bret had a creative control clause in his contract? Also it was Vince who wanted him to go to WCW in the first place.

If I'd been Bret I wouldn't have wanted to drop the title to Shawn like that, especially in my home country.

Btw in answer to your earlier question, Reigns came from FCW/NXT, and Rollins came from ROH. Not sure what relevance that has to the point I made about the future of WWE though.

And if you were Vince McMahon you wouldn't have wanted an outgoing Bret Hart holding your title on his way out.

Well then he should have honoured the contract.

He wasn't going to hold the title on his way out, he wanted to vacate the belt on RAW the night after, which his creative control clause absolutely allowed him to do.

Were you even watching at the time?

Indeed, Bret shouldn't have even showed up to the show that weekend. Vince had nothing on him.

Would have been a real shitty thing to do to his fans if he'd done that though, and Bret was nothing but a professional for his entire tenure with WWE.

Well yes. But if he had have just sued like a normal person, then I think the fans would understand and would probably have just turned on the show

You'd have allowed Eric Bischoff announce on Nitro an hour before Raw even went on the air that the current WWF Champion was coming to WCW?

I dunno. This was back in the day when kayfabe still existed, I doubt either Bret or Vince would want to break kayfabe like that by admitting there were problems "in real life."

That was in response to FMKK.

I wouldn't have signed a contract I couldn't honour.

You say it like they did the business in the knowledge that over a year later they couldn't honour it anymore. Unless that is what happened?

Apparently Trips is going to be defending the title for the first time at the March To Wrestlemania special. WWE.COM announced it but then quickly pulled the article.

I think signing a 37 year old to a ten year contract at double the salary of the next best paid guy was probably a bad idea in a financial downturn of the company.

Rumor is that it will be a triple threat HHH vs Lesnar vs Wyatt.

Wyatt undoubtedly there to take the pin of course
