In what world is it the talent that is the problem?
Why would you want lots of big guys and no athletic smaller guys to help them produce quality matches? Even if you agree with Vince's 'poster boy' philosophy, you still need people to make them look good.

Well no but it was dumb putting him in the title match to begin with.
Near the end of the year yes but April was just silly.
Im sure the only reason Jericho won at mania was so he has some sort of winning streak leading into his feud with Ambrose because Dean had lost.

Let's face it, anything they did with him (short of putting the title on him at the earliest opportunity) was going to be the wrong thing to do.
This thread just wouldn't be what it is without you know who and his bizarrely strange posts about Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn never being over cause they look like average people and praising the words of such losers like Vince Russo and Disco Inferno.
Sinister, I don't care about their concussions, i don't care about their belts or if they dive off cages or dance in the ring. I don't care about any wrestlers. It doesn't change my life in any way. I don't care if AJ Styles wants to kid people that he's in his 20's with his floppy hair when he's nearly 40. I don't care if Kevin Owens has stretch marks round his belly button like a pregnant woman and it jiggles around when he's in the ring. It doesn't matter to me. I don't care about them in any way shape or form, they are just people on the TV to me, that's all, completely replaceable in every way.
BUT when your TV ratings are going down and Smackdowns rating was down this week even with all the Seth Rollins promotion being on it, you have to as Disco said........sell these people to America.
And the fact of the matter is, outside of the smart mark crowd and the FAMILY CROWD, cause it is a kids show, i'm going to the circus next week, that's kinda what wrestling is, it's the circus, it's a kids show now, it's aimed at kids, apart from that family crowd of kids and then your adult smart marks..........no one cares about these guys.
They don't care about them. That's why you can't put any of them on Good Morning America or a late night chat show because they are just regular people. You couldn't sell that to a non wrestling fan, they would sit and laugh at them if they didn't already laugh at what wrestling has become.
It's no different than real life in any job. If any of you on this thread work you know that. If you are a worker or maybe you own your own business you know that. You know your place. You know there are people there that will ONLY EVER BE at a certain position, THEY WILL NEVER ADVANCE! You know this. Any job. Any job in life has a hierarchy and everyone plays their part. These people, these regular looking people that can't even throw a decent fake punch, that can't even get into shape despite being on TV, shouldn't be anywhere near the top of the card, they're curtain jerkers at best or enhancement talent.
And even though Vince McMahon still baffles me with this way of thinking and putting these guys on TV, it at least speaks volumes to me that Vince hasn't pulled the trigger on any of them and really put them ahead of the actual stars. The only reason NXT is getting this much attention is because Vince McMahon is 70 years old, Vince could easily go to sleep tonight and not wake up tomorrow and i don't mean that in a grim way but it's the truth, he's a lot older, if i was him I woulda sold the company by now but the only reason NXT has this much attention is to clearly show the investors and sponsors that Triple H can kinda do the job and their arses wont collapse the day Vince really does die and they all cash in at once and leave the sinking ship. The only thing is since Wrestlemania LAST YEAR, the more and more they push these NXT people and bring these NXT wrestlers up the ratings keep falling, they don't keep rising.
And those are facts all backed up by the numbers. The WWE lost 1 million viewers in an 8 month period last year alone. The rating for Raw is at a 2.2 and Smackdown at 1.5. Don't sit and kid yourselves that a brand split is gonna bring that extra 1 million people. They've left because it's shite. The reason it's shite? You have regular looking people on TV pretending to fight and it's completely unbelievable, not to mention they can't sell or work so it doesn't matter if they look like the local guy down the chippie, they get hit with barb wire bats and don't bleed, smacked in the face with ladders and they jump back up brand new so it wouldn't even matter anyway.
Hopefully in 3 months the NFL will knock Raw's 2.2 under the 2.0 for i think the first time ever and maybe then there will be some real changes made and a good look will be taken at who is on TV, WHY are they on TV and get away from this wrestling show and make wrestling a male soap opera again.
And Sinister there's nothing you can say that can change any of that. Look at this thread, why is this thread so quiet now? Where are all my haters? Do you know where my haters are Sinister? They've finally got out and found something else to do with their spare time. Do you know why they've done that? Cause it was all an act. They couldn't back up what they said? They no longer come to this thread because THEY NO LONGER WATCH ..........why do they no longer watch it? Cause they know everything I have said is true and they don't want to come in here and admit that I'm right.
And if that isn't clear enough for you Sinister and all the other stuff I've said, facts and numbers then look at this thread. The more the WWE push NXT stars, the more they bring in these indie workers............the quieter this thread gets. Coincidence? I think not. Wrestling needs stars, stars do not look and act like the fans in the crowd. Stars need to look and act larger than life, the WWE has only a handful of them right now.

And in great wrestling news Damien Sandow will be on Vince Russo's podcast on Monday. Hopefully Vince Russo will get to the bottom of what happened and what modern day WWE is like and why the company has gotten away from characters and soap opera and went with plain old wrestling.

Hazy you answered your own question. One of several reasons why the NXT call-up's aren't drawing ratings is because they haven't pulled the trigger on them. The top 6 stars are Cena, 'Taker, Lesnar, HHH, Orton and Reigns. Unfortunately, most of them receive little in the way of character development or enticing stories, and 3 of them are part timers.
I completely disagree the likes of Owens and Zayn cannot be wheeled out for talk shows and lead the company. They aren't given much to work with, however. There is a good mix of differing asthetics and sizes throughout the roster. These guys look completely believable too when it comes to in-ring action. The magical thing about wrestling is you don't need an exclusive group of big guys, unlike heavyweight boxing or MMA.

They aren't drawing ratings because anyone who already knew about them are already watching raw so it's not going to bring in extra fans only appease existing ones. If they are used right and word spreads then they may draw in new fans but we will have to wait and see.
A match has been announced for Raw tomorrow...Zigger vs Corbin. I bet it took creative all of 2 minutes to think of that match.

2 Lee's! They haven't pulled the trigger? Owens was IC Champ. AJ is working a program with Roman Reigns and is in the main events. Sami Zayn seems to end up in the big multi man matches. They're all getting good parts on the show. You cannot put any of them on a talk show to try and sell the WWE because they don't look like wrestlers. They don't even look like stars. They look like regular people. There's a reason why they put John Cena on all those things. He looks the part. He acts the part.
It's not gonna bring old fans back or start new fans, the only people that will watch are the ones that already watch. They keep going on about a new era when nothing has changed. Don't get me wrong, i'm glad they fired a lot of people, i'm glad some are even leaving of their own accord like Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes but if this is all to make way for even more NXT call ups then I have lost a lot of faith in what WWE are doing because I don't think is good for business at all. Everything now is focused on the matches. The entire show revolves around matches and I think that is where they lose a lot of faith with older fans because wrestling never used to be that way, wrestling used to be focused on the stories and then it was the stories that led to the matches. Today we just have matches and IMO that is the wrong way to present wrestling. That might be the indie way in America but even over here indie wrestling is still the old way, it's still very much a panto mixed with sport. That's the way to go. Make it a panto, make it a soap opera and then when you have enough stories, then make matches.

Roman was always winning his first feud. So I guess they just shouldn't have had him on the PPVs then? Because the logic here seems to be that title matches should only ever happen when the belt is going to change hands.
And AJ won a number one contenders match on Raw.

The logic is that the challenger should be a believable title holder. AJ is not a believable world title holder in WWE at this point.
