Do I really need Chipotle powder?

I heard Nigel Barden talking about Chipotle and Black Bean chowder on Simon Mayo's drivetime show. I really fancy having a go at it, I've seen Chipotle powder online but not in shops. I have in chilli powder, smoked Paprika and some powdered smoke. Would I be able to replicate it or it worth getting Chipotle powder?
I'm thinking of adding less liquid and making it into an alternative veg chilli....

My local Waitrose has Chipotle powder, but you absolutely can just replace it with normal chilli powder and smoked paprika. I bought some for a chilli recipe I wanted to try a while back, but it was really no different to my normal chilli.

Thanks for replying, if I order from Ocado in the future I might try it but I'm sure my trust smoked paprika will be ok. In case anyone is interested in the recipe

I'd just use smoked paprika or some kind of chilli blend.

My local Tesco does stock dried chipotle chillies.

I use chipotle paste (Santa Maria) which is available in a lot of supermarkets. For me it's a must-have, I really notice the difference if I don't use it in recipes.

I do a weekly shop at Tesco so I'll have a look next time. Thanks

I looked on mysupermarket and it lists an ASDA own brand chipotle paste.

I used to have Asda home delivery, I think it's one of those items I never noticed because I've never cooked with it. I got some dried Chipotle flakes from Tesco and the dish tastes wonderful. I recognise the flavour from meals I've had in Las Iguanas.

Do I really need Chipotle powder?

Only if you have a sore chipotle.
