Damn - I can't see my bank on there (Midland Bank).

They got my custom with the money box when I was young and now this!

My bank will support it, but we've got the usual Android fragmentation that my device it's even on Android M yet and despite having a fingerprint reader is not supported by the app at the moment.

This is where having a an iPhone means developers launch it first on iPhone, heck even Microsoft launch their own apps on iPhone first before Windows phone, everyone gets fair updates all on the same day and is always on the latest software with a reasonable device, all apps work as it's 1 platform, no messing.

Seriously thinking of moving to the 7+ or whatever in the summer.
What device? Is it not just the case that they haven't launched the app in the UK yet?

Interesting to see HSBC are promoting Android Pay already with ads on Twitter and Facebook. Always seems that Fruit based products receive most of the ad spend.

Given how many Android users there are (admittedly, not all have NFC phones or even the right software to allow it) it would be silly not to promote the service, and now it would make more sense to concentrate on Android as I assume iPhone users are already well aware.

Ultimately, the banks will advertise both equally (i.e. same ad for mobile payments).

Watching a bit of a race now. What will come first, Pokemon Go or Android Pay?

Android Pay has now launched in the UK

I've added my Lloyds and MBNA cards, verified them, popped to Pret and now I have a Flat White paid for with my Nexus 6p

Managed to add my Nationwide debit card.

For some reason, though the terms and conditions mention the use of a credit card, my NW credit card isn't yet usable

I've only just got my first contactless debit card today, due to the old card being eaten by an ATM machine, and the big shop where I work doesn't even take that yet! I laughed so hard last month when one customer started bashing his iPhone on the card reader in a most arrogant way. All day long we get asked "Do you do contactless?" so now we will have to have the phone bashers to put up with as well now then.

Amex doesn't work yet. Did Amex launch on day one with Apple Pay or did they come later?

When are the big hitters going to join in: Barclays, Natwest, Santander etc?

Yeah they launched day one. Quite annoying as the 2 cards I use the most are AMEX

Natwest are going to be doing it eventually.

Barclays seems committed to not supporting anything that everyone else uses. They want you to use their app

Typical! And as my phone is rooted, their app doesn't work and probably Android Pay won't run on it either.

I think it's already confirmed that it won't work on rooted phones. In a way it makes some sense - banks don't want to be held responsible because you have some crapware on your phone that stole your details.

(of course I'm not saying you're an idiot, but there will be some people out there who have rooted their phone and don't know what that really means)

Barclays are just being knobs. I think they support Apple Pay, but that's because they have to, as Apple doesn't give them the choice

As has been said before, Barclays will support Android Pay. Just not straight away.

Added my Lloyds debit card no problems (had to phone up first time but used a text code to add it to a second phone). My Lloyds Mastercard credit card hasn't been added as Lloyds currently have some problems with that system, so I'll try later.

Got shunted around four people by Lloyds staff and then back to the start... All starting by asking what they could do. Nothing as it turned out, then the fourth man cut me off when trying to pass me off to someone else.

First time I've had to call a bank in 5 years or more! Shame it's a part of the activation process for some cards.

It was easier with Nationwide - they will send you the code via email or SMS and it just worked.

Nationwide do seem to be much more "with it" when it comes to technology, compared to most banks

they were slow to support apple pay but ultimately couldn't offer an alternative that worked on iphones.

They *can* offer an alternative that does the same thing on Android phones, (and already do for credit card customers). On the face of it there's very little difference, so as long as I can pay on my phone* I don't really care if its through Android Pay or Barclays app.

*Not sure about paying for stuff on phone to be honest. Better than carrying a card around but only just.

I think Barclays get it via their app, it is quite imminent too.
I wonder if networks will supply NFC Sims for those needing NFC, though to be honest, I am not that sure I will even bother using it on my NFC equipped G2.

I also wonder if shops will display an Android Pay sign for the confused who do not know the Contactless sign is what to look for?

As a sideline: I did download a card reading app and it reads my contactless card just fine; so everything is working as it should, just a case of apps and banks allowing it.

However, isn't just using a contactless card a lot simpler than using your phone? How many buttons do you have to press to make a contactless transaction? - Wouldn't an oldschool 4 number PIN be easier?

Well that's a disappointment! Why is Lloyds and Halifax all ready but TSB are not

They are all practically the same bank with the same systems!

Because they aren't the same company anymore (Lloyds sold it off), and perhaps TSB execs aren't as prepared as LBG are.

If it is still using Lloyds' systems, perhaps Lloyds want fees to perform any necessary work for TSB?

Just added Android Pay on a second Android phone and when adding a card that was already added to the Nexus 6P, I also got the code sent via SMS.

But to add my Mastercard I still need to phone up.

Perhaps the phone activation bit is random, or maybe for the first time a card is added (and from then on, I'll always need to enter a text when changing phones).

It's early days, so I'll accept some teething problems. Mind you, a lot of people were calling up Lloyds today to activate their cards, so it seems word is spreading quite fast.
