A rumour yes, but from the Radio Times so a more reliable source than most

Great choice

I don't watch Eastenders so I don't know her, but it sounds like a good casting choice and (I think) important to bring in someone with their own fans and some audience familiarity.

These rumours being reported elsewhere?

Very, very good actress and a clever choice although I was kind of hoping we'd get someone more working class as Capaldi has suggested.

She's a great choice.

Would she be working alongside Capaldi or someone new?

"Could be in the frame"

"According to a source"

No proof whatsoever and the media will be full of this sort of speculative nonsense until the official announcement.

I did the male crush survey on the page. It turns out it's Tom Hiddleston!

Could be good she was great in Eastenders last year when Shabnams little boy Zair was still born.

If her character came from the future or past maybe even a different planet it would also be something new and different for the show.

I think the past might be a good thing. For me one of the reasons people aren't watching the show is because it's become too out-there. With Rose there was this enormous hook for people who generally wouldn't watch the show and I think the balance was pretty good. Year in, year out, we've moved further and further away from that hook and good as Karen Gillan and Jenna Coleman have been, through no fault of their own the characters haven't had that hook of interest for the general public. It would be a mistake to move even further away from that. All IMHO of course.

Completely agree. A total non story.

I stopped reading when I saw "with the hunt still on" and "with auditions poised to begin". If they seriously believe that the companion hasn't already been cast then that proves they have absolutely no insiders sources or information whatsoever.

I'd love it if it was her because she's a genuinely brilliant actress and we'd be lucky to have her but it could just be Radio Times throwing out a name for click bait.

I do think we're not too far off the new companion being announced though.

I thought she'd be involved with the show somehow the moment she left Eastenders, an exit that seems pretty permanent at the moment.

She'd be a great choice!

Or a non 'twee' girl perhaps? Or were you implying that all 'girls' are 'twee'?

Are you seriously expecting a 'bloke'? It's not going to happen. One of the vast improvements in fantasy fiction the last 20 years is the improved representation of women. This is why there is now a huge female audience for fantasy: more female characters and better female characters. Is a prominent show like Doctor who really going to regress a quarter of a century and become a 'boy's club'?

Try and bring your sensibilities into the 21st Century. It's a lot of fun.

Precisely,

"Doctor Who series ten will begin filming in May"

Not only has the new companion probably already been cast but she (or he) is probably well into rehearsals for Season/Series 10

The actress has recently followed on Twitter several of DW's directors and DW magazine.

I want there to be a male companion introduced alongside female BUT not their boyfriend or anything like that, as someone else maybe from another planet

If they wanted to have a male and female companion, they could always go for siblings. No romance, still representation

Or maybe something like Jamie and Victoria who were almost like brother and sister

RT is continuing to RT the DW companion articles...I think we found our winner.

With BBCWW publicity bods gathered at Roath Lock - all seemingly taking selfies in the TARDIS set.
