It is now the 1st of March so is it this month she takes over as producer? I seen some saying on here March this was in January and that she was on Holilday for 6 weeks and I've seen some saying it might be in May she takes over does anyone have any exact idea?

She begins either this month or next. But we won't see any of her work until at least early summer.

It does feel like the date has been pushed forward a bit...originally it was new year, then March and now it's looking like April.

I s'pose it depends on when the new emmerdale producer takes over.

Iain McLeod has already taken over at ED - started at the beginning of Jan.

I reckon she won't take over much before the BSA's - that way she'll can trot on stage & take the accolades when ED win big this year - can't do that if she's already been a Corrie for a couple of months

Watching Robert trying to make his breakfast in Ken's ancient kitchen, a total SOR that a man of his age with a decent job would be happy just to live with his girlfriend's Dad in a cramped house.
Also, why has Ken been lumbered with the brat Simon, especially now that him and Leanne have made up? Another SOR that a 12 year old boy would want to share a bedroom with his Grandad rather than have his own room at home. Absolute nonsense that a man of almost 80 would want all that lot sharing his poky house anyway

Posted this on the wrong thread, it was meant to be on SOR thread.

The sooner the better before Blackburn causes anymore damage to Corrie

Omg so she's been on holiday for 3 months!

Well Corrie won't be winning any awards

The list of producers since Corrie started ends with:

30 Kim Crowther 14 July 2008 – 23 July 2010
31 Phil Collinson 26 July 2010 – 5 April 2013
32 Stuart Blackburn 8 April 2013 – March 2016
33 Kate Oates March 2016 –

but no date in March is given.

I hope she brings her helicopter with her. There a few characters who'd benefit from a good chopper crash.

In fact, she better bring two.

Doesn't matter they'll miss Sean, Michelle, Fizz, Kirk, Anna etc

I don't think they'll be axed however much we want them to be

Quite right. Somebody shouldn't lose their job because a minority dislike them. They are mostly background characters anyway (well Sean and Michelle are) I'd rather they concentrate on writing some good stories, rather than axe people just to replace them with even more dull or useless characters.

I would love to of been a fly on the wall at Blackburn and Oates's leaving do's. I hear Kate had her's at xmas.

I can imagine there were pitchforks at Blackburns and tears at Oate's. I can imagine Danny Miller and Ryan Hawley clinging on to her ankles.

I hope there is a throne in Kate's new office and they all have to bow down and refer to her as "our saviour"

I think the Corrie cast liked Blackburn as for Kate Oates, if anyone was clinging to her it was Micheal Parr who has even gone on record to say that Ross is Kate Oates "baby".

That's true. Mind blank. I forgot about Saint Michael Parr.

I am not expecting miracles tbh. Corrie is a lot more set in its ways than Emmerdale. I think she'll be another Phil Collinson, masking the problems with dramatic storylines.

I bet he had less 'sorry your leaving' cards than Britain gets points in Eurovision.

3 months is rather a long time to take a holiday, any longer and it's quite bizarre.

Perhaps Blackburn wanted 3 full years, so will leave 8th April.

That didn't stop Stuart Blackburn taking the glory when Corrie won awards for Phil Collinson's work. He even slated EastEnders for winning the BAFTA for Best Soap in 2013 over Corrie, without a mention of the show he'd actually been working on, Emmerdale.

Quite right. Somebody shouldn't lose their job because a minority dislike them.
I'm not convinced any of those much derided characters are especially popular aside from the number of followers the actors have on Twitter which isn't an indication of character popularity or even true popularity of the actor. It's easy for anyone who's anyone to get followers on there, you only have to look at how many those TOWIE nobodies, who are yesterday's news the minute they leave the show, have. I find it hard to believe that the likes of Sean, Michelle and Anna Windass are among the show's most well-loved characters. I must have a higher quality threshold than many if they are.

Sean has always been a limited character, who had mild entertainment value to begin with but has been nothing but an irritant for years. I've seen Cotton compared to John Inman however he had more talent in his little finger than Cotton does in his whole body. Mr Humphries was also a limited role but one that never became tiring thanks to Inman's talent.

Antony Cotton's chat show flopped, and with Kym Marsh I've always assumed the interest in the more sensational aspects of her life is down to morbid fascination rather than teenage girls actually idolising her and the sort of lifestyle she leads. Those mentioned should go because they contribute either nothing or very little to the programme which is not good for it creatively. Even if we are to believe these characters/actors are inexplicably truly popular, I'd rather see popular characters on the show who contribute something worthwhile to it. I don't care if people like them (which must be to just see them on screen as it can't be for their fantastic storylines), it doesn't stop them being deadwood who are holding the show back.

I am hoping that the powers in charge will look at Emmerdale and see how Kate Oates has ruined it; then they can withdraw their offer to her and look around for a competent producer. Blackburn didn't do wonders with the show, but, compared with Emmerdale, Corrie is Shakesperian at present.

Well dramatic storylines will be a breath of fresh air instead of these pathetic comedy scenes we've been getting lately. What with Sally attempting to become mare and Mary being a drunk idiot. Corrie should remember their not actually a comedy sitcom. I really hope Kate Oates changes things.
