The vast bulk of the audience are going to be 'The Walking Dead' fans who are hoping that it gets better, but slowly losing interest.

That is precisely why amc commisioned it, grab the audience of TWD and turn the show into another money-spinner. Unfortunately they didn't get any decent writers and the characters are bland and uninteresting. It worked somewhat for 'Better Call Saul' (because of the known characters), but IMO not for this show.

I did like this episode a lot more (even though i've quite liked the whole series) its like they had brought in new writers/director behind the scenes

I thought it was a bit of a slow episode for a mid season premiere. It had its good parts, but the fact it focused solely on one character made me feel a bit bored.

Why were those guys so desperate to kill a fleeing human? Wasting all that ammo seemed stupid.

i liked that episode, Nick is perhaps the only half-decent character in it so it made sense to focus on him. Some of the 'set pieces' were as ridiculous as always, its amazing how people with automatic weapons get eaten when all they have to do is take a couple of steps back and fire...

hopefully the rest of the season will focus more on Nick than the tedious family-sagas of the other characters, not sure I'm looking forward to an episode solely about MiserableChris or Annoying`TeenageDaughter and her quest for a boyfriend during the zombie apocalypse

Madison and Strand are so dumb,lol first they risk dehydration by drinking booze then they make so much noise that a massive herd approach them.

How were the Walkers that fell from the Hotel roof and balconies so nimble on their feet after falling from that height !

Danay Garcia still looks hot, had the hots for her on prison break glad she's made a comeback.

Even though I Can't believe the stupidity of some of the characters I think the pacing is a lot better.....have to say I'm more interested in what's happening with Nick than the others

Second episode is better than the first but they are both just boring, not episodes i could every re watch.

Too true, the only thing I liked was the Walkers falling off the hotel balcony.

The main thing that is spoiling this season is the Mexican religious stuff. And all the talking in Mexican.

This is one of the biggest fallicies with the whole concept of the zombies in this universe - if a Zombie falls from such a great height they may not feel pain but they are still going break legs/ankles/ligaments etc. It's the laws of physics and biomechanics that seem to be completed ignored.

Rick and the others may feel like they are dead, but they are not.

But again, I know the creators of the series claim that "walking dead" was always meant to be the living. I just dont believe them

It's not the series creators, it's the guy who wrote the comics who said it always refers to the people, in fact it gets said quite early in the comics. I don't understand why you are so against something that is stated as fact.

Have to say, I'm in the group.... started watching it, as I thought we were going to see a deeper extent of societies breakdown and how people dealt with the situation of the dead returning to life.

This series (1 and so far 2) has cut far to many corners in its storytelling, and skipped so much that would have been better to see, than the weekly soap opera of the main characters.

If you look at the timeline, we are supposedly still within the first month of the initial outbreak!! Yet the situations our 'heroes' find themselves in are little different to those in the main TWD series... ie everyone out for themselves, and no-one is questioning how or why dead people are returning to life and trying to eat the living.

The episodes feature 1 or 2 decent set pieces, but overall, its just the usual characters doing stupid things, putting themselves in unnecessary peril.

Well, whilst I love The Walking Dead, I really have had enough of trying to like and enjoy Fear The Walking Dead.

It has such a flat feel to it and I'm less than impressed with some of the acting. The scenes at the end of the last episode in the hotel bar with the walkers getting in for instance was very poor.

I don't even think the walkers are as good as the ones in the original series either. This show just seems like a poor relation to the far superior Walking Dead.

I really can't be bothered with it and am going to wait for The Walking Dead to return in not that many more weeks. At least I know that I'll enjoy that.

I don't understand why the series has gone in this direction. There was so much potential to tell this story in a new way - the start of the apocalypse- but they've just rushed through and skipped it all. What a complete waste. All we are now left with is pretty much a sub par version of season 1 of TWD.
Aside from the location, not much else is different in terms of plot. I don't know where they go from here to sustain the series? We already have the main group split (yawn at them all coming back together at the end of the season). New people are already out for themselves. They are scrambling to find food, shelter and constantly on the move....it's no different from the main themes addressed in the main series.

Given that we are meant to only be a month into this (in my head they should still be in LA, at home with friends/neighbours/ military defences) they have proven themselves to be far more intelligent than Rick's group. I mean, they learnt rapidly that you have to crush the brain to kill the walkers, they know anyone who dies comes back, and even that if you cover yourself in walker blood you get ignored....

Such a shame.

So after watching last nights episode - predictions for the rest of the season.

Not seen any spoilers (not even the next time teaser) All just speculation.


Nick's compound will get overrun by the Supermarket Gang.
During this the Pharmacist finally turns into a Walker (why he was immune so long doesn't get explained).
Nick will of course survive and will be told by Hector's (probably dying) brother that his Mother was looking for him.
Nick's girlfriend might survive but will most likely be killed by the turned Pharmacist.

Nick will make it to the Hotel by the end of the season.


Travis makes it to the hotel by the next episode.

We don't see Travis' son (blanking on his name) again this season apart from a quick flashback to them parting. He may turn up next season.

Things go wrong at the Hotel. Either her from Desperate Housewives escapes and goes on a killing spree or the Supermarket gang locate it and attack.

Whatever happens the season ends with the usual suspects (minus the odd one) on the road again and heading back to the U.S.

I'm guessing Ophelia will survive her trip to Santa Fe and maybe even find her ex boyfriend alive as otherwise they might just have well left her fate mysterious.

Nick is indestructible. I imagine he'll be standing there in the middle of the compound with his hands on his hips and covered in walker gunge while some oxycontin-addled bandito sprays machine gun fire all around him and completely misses until his bullets run out.

Meanwhile Mr Pharmacist will have turned and will be taking nice big chunks out of everyone except Nick, of course, because Nick is wearing zombie camouflage and because Nick is indestructible.

And, yes, Nick will probably head for the hotel because the big red neon sign said "Hi Nick it's your Mom" and Travis will be heading that way for the same reason, although he might have trouble persuading Chris since he has now decided that going psycho is the appropriate way to deal with his dead mummy issues. Still, at least Madison will be back with her boy and that will have been well worth the risk of alerting every crazed gun-toting gang within a 20 mile radius to the only place in Baja with electricity. And ice cubes.

How come water is so hard to find but ice cubes are freely available? Does the hotel have its own water making machine too?

Has it been said the hotel is short on water, baring in mind how many bottles of water they probably had on site for the guests, I doubt they are that short.

Obviously the other places, like where Nick is will be short of water, but i doubt the hotel would be, just like the supermarket isn't.

I think it is because the hotel has power and can freeze the water they do have, where as the power is off everywhere else so they can't freeze anything even if they did have water.

No but it would have large water tanks that would still be mostly full with only a few people living there.

We saw someone having a shower in the hotel a couple of weeks back so obviously the plumbing still works.
