The annoying thing about this, and it goes back to S1, was that whilst we always knew the collapse of society was gonna be pretty quick, it seemed to skip showing quite a lot of it, which I always thought was the aim of having a series set during the start of the outbreak/phenomenon.
Thinking back to Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, there were TV/Radio broadcasts that are heard, and which describe things happening, and what people are learning about the newly risen dead. I hoped these series would expand on the kind of elements touched on Romero's films (which the TWD creator uses as inspiration and lore). Its almost as though the people in this know a lot of stuff already, and weren't particularly freaked out by it all. This seems to have gone into S2, which also seems to be brushing over loads of stuff I'd like to see, in favour of following the survivors into what looks like becoming a copy of The main Walking Dead series, with most other survivors being seen as a threat. My missus prefers this to TWD, so we'll stick with it. But this series (S1 & 2 so far) haven't been what I was expecting/hoping for. What's happening currently shouldn't be until at least season 3. They've failed to really build up any tension or any kind of back story to the outbreak. Which is what i thought the series was going to be about. Not another TWD clone. |

I think a very telling thing is the lack of interest on this forum in the show, consider how many points are made every time WD is aired against the few one here - i would imagine pretty much everyone who watches the WD would watch this initially but it seems people are either not interested enough to bother posting, or like most have my friends, have given up on the series already...

Enjoying Fear The Walking Dead. Very good to have this while we wait for the next series of TWD. I also thought the 15 min web episode was well worth watching.

Enjoyed a lot of the first series, but agree it didn’t live up to its potential, especially the collapse of society and protagonists’ disbelief, horror. Also , it was LA , surely there was room for a few celebrity walkers. Series two is not looking promising so far, especially second ep – nice build up of tension in ep 1 with the pirates, but that was completely dissipated ep 2, and the boat is already getting old.

..or don't have access to the show and are adverse to "other means." |

These people deserve to die, walk past all those suitcases and start having a chat beside some corpses.
I actually enjoyed this episode but unless I'm looking through rose tinted glasses the shows get shorter and shorter and more unfulfilling, 42 minutes. Keeps me happy until the next series of The Walking Dead, |

This is probably the only episode out of the two current seasons worth that I've actually enjoyed. The (former) addict is seemingly getting the most character development too. The black guy is a right dick though, I wonder what is actually in baha.
I never watched the webisodes, but was that woman suppose to be from that plane? I read there was to be a crossover event, though thought her character was suppose to be reoccurring. |

Maybe the character to be reoccurring was just a fake rumor to make the ending more of a surprise.

better than the first couple of episodes but still spoilt by moody teenagers doing stupid things...
Nick is probably the only one of the younger cast who i care about at all and they still have him acting like some junkie wise man who knows everything, having met a few heroin addicts over the years they weren't exactly the brightest of the bunch. |

Presumably Alex had killed him at some point. I've seen some speculation that Alex (the woman from the plane) and Strand recognised each other. They certainly gave each other the evil eye but that may just have been down to Strand not wanting her on his boat. Them knowing each other would be way too big of a co-incidence IMO. Though both did seem to know more/were better prepared about the situation than everyone around them when we first met them. I'm amazed none of them were bitten when surround by the horde on the beach. especially when Nick was having his face off with a Walker and Alicia was about 10 feet away shouting his name yet got totally ignored by the Walkers. |

People wandering off alone minutes after saying they should be sticking together. Waiting on 50 or so walkers to approach from the top of a hill and then emptying a pistol into them rather than gtfo of there! Standing right at the edge of a sandy pit with a zombie in it. Hugging when walkers are right there. I mean, right ****ing there! Every episode is full of utter nonsense wtf-is-this-shit moments like this. Only reason I keep watching is because it's set in TWD universe but it's getting more and more difficult.

With a group of people perhaps naive at first but then learning from their mistakes, especially because a loved one dies due to a mistake. But this lot are just dumb as dumb can be. |

As other posts mention, these characters do such stupid things, and can be expected to do stupid things, it's impossible to like or care about them, they don't seem to have any agency at all, existing as punch bags. I'm out.

Isn't this like two weeks since the outbreak, or like eight or nine days or something? HOW was that guy in the plane still alive...? |

I think the time line is about 2 weeks, I can't remember but the plane was in the air when the the military was protecting them, and he could live without water for maybe 4 days.
im not sure if the webisodes match up now. |

The crash was 7 days ago or longer.
""Day 5 / Day 12 Flight 462 crashes into the ocean somewhere off the coast of California (TBA). The Californian National Guard settles into their occupation, fencing off the neighborhood around Madison's home, deploying equipment and resources to assist in day to day life."" Its day 18 after it outbreaks globally. http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Fe..._Dead_Timeline |

I'm enjoying it. But then I'm grateful for anything zombie on my tv.
Favourite bit - "make sure you get some fresh clothes and some shampoo", just as if they were off to the Trafford Centre. 2nd favourite - "that's some serious shit", as the proverbial hits the whatever is blocking the pipe. |

Series two is making Series one look brilliant. 3 episodes in and what has happened and more to the point why should I care....about any of them.
My wife loves TWD and even she said she is done with it. |

Some interesting points about what we have seen so far in this series.
It is a decent attempt to fill in the gap of what kicked off the Walking Dead world, yet it for me just falls short of revelations or insight into the why it happened. Unless it is to come of course which may or may not be contained in future episodes. There was the lad in the earlier episodes that had a flu bug, and then on the Flight 462 mini series, the flu seemed to be mentioned a few items again. No mention of what caused it though, but i assume it has some bearing. |

No mention of what caused it though, but i assume it has some bearing. When Rick and gang were in the prison in the main show, we had a plotline revolving around some sort of deadly swine flu (well, it killed their pigs) that seemed to be carried by some Walkers in the locality which necessitated an emergency run to get drugs. It's also what lead to Carol originally getting exiled by Rick as she killed Tyrese's girlfriend and another sick person in an attempt to stop it spreading. Given how Kirkman has been adamant that the comic/main TV show is not about the ins and outs of the infection it would seem unlikely that FtWD is going to explore it seriously as a plotline as it's set in the same fictional universe. |
