Caught up with this weeks episode, last night, and as others have mentioned, the stupidity of some of the characters continues.
Still feel this has been a missed opportunity, and if the timeline is correct we are only just over 2 weeks since it all started, yet society and major cities have fallen. Yet we've really seen hardly any of it... bar a couple of riots, and a neighbourhood being fenced off in S1.
I don't think it was ever a 'Flu' virus, and certainly not the initial cause - that is just the symptoms people develop as the bite infection take hold, and gradually kills the victim. Then once dead, whatever phenomenon is happening, causes the dead to reanimate.
Yep, I've said it before, but much like George Romeros 'Dead' films, the zombies were really just a side element - the real story was about the remaining living, and how they survived / began to fight one another. Romeros films were more veiled comments on Racism (NotLD) and Commercialism/Consumerism (Dawn of the Dead), whereas TWD has always been more about the remaining living being 'The Walking Dead'.
