Caught up with this weeks episode, last night, and as others have mentioned, the stupidity of some of the characters continues.

Still feel this has been a missed opportunity, and if the timeline is correct we are only just over 2 weeks since it all started, yet society and major cities have fallen. Yet we've really seen hardly any of it... bar a couple of riots, and a neighbourhood being fenced off in S1.

I don't think it was ever a 'Flu' virus, and certainly not the initial cause - that is just the symptoms people develop as the bite infection take hold, and gradually kills the victim. Then once dead, whatever phenomenon is happening, causes the dead to reanimate.

Yep, I've said it before, but much like George Romeros 'Dead' films, the zombies were really just a side element - the real story was about the remaining living, and how they survived / began to fight one another. Romeros films were more veiled comments on Racism (NotLD) and Commercialism/Consumerism (Dawn of the Dead), whereas TWD has always been more about the remaining living being 'The Walking Dead'.

What the....? The woman in the lifeboat with the sick young man just suddenly appear out of nowhere at the end?
What the hell?
So the writers can just make them appear like magic being towed by Daniel and the others, like no introductions are required? They're just there? Like it's completely normal?

That's like when you write stories when you're 8 years old, and if you want to make something happen you just place the characters you want there like they're inanimate toys you move around at your convenience. I'll just make those characters appear there by simply moving them there. No need to worry about them needing to introduce themselves to the others, I'll just make it sort of happen as if talking and all that boring stuff just simply happened offscreen.

That sequence was just terrible. It was as if a lot had been edited out and a lot of footage is on the cutting room floor. They're suddenly being towed by Daniel's boat with no character interactions or explanation of how that scene was arrived at. They're just planted there like magic like it's a computer game.

Apart from that I thought it was a very boring episode overall. Not much happened, and now I'm getting worried that this entire series is going to have them stuck on that bloody boat.
I really enjoyed series one, I thought it was very good. But this series is boring as it's hardly progressing at all. It's hardly moving forward at all.

Did you not hear Alex tell them that they had to stop off for something before going back to the Boat?

That was to pick up the liferaft.

Maybe you didn't watch the episode properly?

The lady was running over the hill saying run, they are coming, she then helped them get to their boat, as they set off, she said they had to stop off and pick something up, which was obviously her dingy with the lad in it.

A 30 second clip of them getting to the dingy asking about the boy, tying on to it, would have made it flow better, it was abrupt the way it cut from the beach to the boat.

It likely was a flue, Natures way to spread it fast.

I'm struggling to like ANY of the characters on this show. Like, if some of them were killed off I wouldn't be too fussed.

I don't get the whole contagion thing. There is no logical way a virus can re-animate the dead in the way that we've seen on the show. It's completely implausible. I just accept it as them being "zombies" and that's all there is to it. If you overthink it, it just falls apart I feel.

I was the same, watched all 3 eps this afternoon have to say, I still don't like any of the characters, but they are not grating on me as much as they did in series one!
I was hoping the matted haired one was going to get eaten when he slipped off ledge.
I loathe his character

What is up with his hair?

I've never seen anyone with hair like that, not even junkies.

Totally bizarre, I find it very distracting!
I've just googled him (For hair purposes only!) I don't know if this has been mentioned on here before, Frank Dillane who is the Matted Haired one is actually Stephen (Stannis Baratheon) Dillane's son!

Episode 4...

So they decided to use flash backs, great... I hope its very rare.

I'm guessing letting Alex live was a mistake and she told them the names? Or the kids on the island?

Strand abandoned the boat to take them on like john McClain, or just to get away???

20 Min into the ep.

EDIT' Not a bad episode.

Once again, I must turn to my fellow DS members in beg for some help regarding an episode.

As I watch without subtitles, I lose some of the lines spoken.

When the bad guys enter the boat, where is Strand? And where is Nick? I see Nick walking into some place with houses, which makes no sense, since they are on open sea..

I realise that the scenes with Strand are flashbacks, and that he was some kind of debt collector. But where is he in present time, when all the other (sans Nick) are on the boat?

I thought it was a great episode, Dougray Scott wasn't expecting him, or the storyline, liking now how they are humanising the characters.

Actually was rooting for the despicable 8 now that's a turnaround from season 1!

Looking forward to next week

Yes, this season is much better.
I could do without Alicia, but hopefully she will grow up.

Can't really agree with that, totally lacked any tension for me and with Nick ashore you could see the outcome coming. Maybe Strand's plan was to meet up with Nick and the new guy as it was his plan. Did Salazar sabotage Strand's gun?

I thought Salazar had taken the ammo, that's why he couldn't use it, could be wrong though.

Strand was at the helm, watching nick swim to get his friend who is going to get them over the Mexican boarder, He came out looked down the steps to see then and went to get the gun (someone stole the bullets) and then somehow left the boat on the dingy, shot at and sank, He was rescued at the end by Madison .

They aren't really in open ocean they are hugging the coast, no more than 10 miles from land. They may have moved to 1 mile for nick to swim over, Probably why they got found by the Pirates. In fact at 6:35 they are surrounded by lights!

My expectations are quite low now... So when its not a Totally sh*tty episode its a good one

As soon as the 3 appeared on the dingy I knew it was going to be a crappy hostage situation, with our lot falling for them easily and spending the rest of the episode making up for the mistake. So hardly any zombie stuff.

I know it is a rhetorical question but why didn't they check the baby bump was real FGS? rolleyes

And we also have a pre zombie flash back, because they can't waste enough of the episode on non zombie action.

I May have been shouting at Madison to lift up that top! The was a lot of stupid things, but im getting used to them and try to enjoy the show, the alternative is to give up watching.

Enough's enough. Don't mind saying I'm bailing on this series. It's had enough time to get it's act together. I'm out of here! Ultimately I don't care about any of the characters, and frankly if they're going to engage in stupid acts with predictable outcomes, I don't want to waste my time. Harsh, but sorry guys. The Walking Dead did not need this spin off.

Thank you so much. It is really nice of you to take the time and effort to explain it to me.
Highly appreciated

I thought last night's episode was better. It was good to have a break in the monotony of the boat and it was interesting to see a bit of Strand's back story.

I didn't realise Dougray Scott was going to be in it. A pleasant surprise!

They are just off the bay, they looked across to the complex last week, Nick had the address of the bloke that Strand was supposed to meet. Strand got off the boat when it was ambushed, to try and escape to the shore, but he was spotted and the boat was shot, he tried to call his man but dropped his satellite phone in the water, so just drifted away a few hundred yards from Abigail.
