Playstation 2 as dvd player
Does anyone know what format discs the playstation 2 reads - is it dvd-r or dvd+r.

My daughter plays dvd+r in hers. Never tried dvd-r as my recorder dosent support it.

The PlayStation2 does officially support both - and + R & RW discs but you may find that discs made with certain AV or PC recorders (I couldn't name them I'm afraid) are troublesome.

I think the generation of PS2 is a factor too.. I have one of the first machines in this country and Ive had many problems trying to play recorded DVDRs.

The very first PS2 units would not play recordable dvd at all.Later models usually played +R and -R,although +RW and -RW was hit and miss.
The more recent versions and the slimline now officially support recordable dvd playback,but brands of blanks and the originating writer can still cause some problems |

Thanks for all your help. I was going to copy one of my dvds (my own content) for my friend and didnt know which to use.
