Apologies if there's a thread but couldn't find one. Just found this kid and I'm hooked, great voice, upbeat music, every song tells a story, really hits home with me a good few of them! Give him a listen.

Well they have been dominating UK and Irish iTunes for quite a while now......I find it more irritating than enjoyable.

I assume it's mainly young teens who like this song?

I find the lyrics quite bizarre.

It's funny, I remember listening to this on Spotify a while back and remembering hearing it even further back than that and just assuming i'd just found the album that it was from and then there you go, a few weeks later it tops the charts.

I love it. It's a fantastic song. And i'm 46 in a month

#edit

Just googled it and it was originally released back in September last year which is probably around the time I first heard it.

Heard it once and that was enough. Tedious.

I unfortunately sometimes have to listen to Capital (I'm clearly a great boyfriend) and of all the dross they play, this has to be right up the top. A truly terrible song.

I remember Alan McGee once described Coldplay as music for bedwetters and that seems an appropriate description for this as well.

Screams one hit wonder to me.

Very dull and droning. Cannot understand the appeal myself...? But each to their own! 😊

Isn't that child abuse? Terrifying a poor 7 old that he will end up decrepit and abandoned unless he knocks up a lass sharpish? No wonder he sounds so strained , poor lad.

It's one of the best songs I've heard in a long while.

I quite like this song, the more I hear it the more it grows on me. They love it on Cuarenta.

Eurggh! We have Radio 2 on at work and this godawful, cliched, illogical, whiny, mawkish piece of dross is played over and over again day after bloody day! It wouldn't be so bad if the lyrics actually made sense - one minute the singer is claiming that he was out boozing at the age of 11 the next he claims he's nearly 60 and he's sat in a nursing home! But then what chance is there of the singer writing decent lyrics when he can't even spell his own name? (It's Lucas, not Lukas, you pretentious ****!)

For some reason every now and then Radio 2 picks up on some third rate Ed Sheeran impersonating "sensitive" singer-songwriter and plays one of their songs to death! They did the same with some crap called "I wasn't expecting That" last year, which I suspect is also by this Lucas Graham ****.

That was Jamie Lawson.

Also, given that the lead singer of Lukas Graham is a Danish guy, I don't see why spelling his name Lukas is pretentious...

No offence but the song is irritating and rubbish!

Another "home made" chav anthem tailor made for a Talent Show performance. There is not much musical merit to be found on this track.

I can see how this appears edgy to people who listen to Heart FM all day.

I have noticed there are multiple writers on this, some of which aren't in the "band". The best songs are written by one or two people. As soon as 50 people start getting involved as you can imagine the music loses it's magic.

Look at Kanye West for example, his songs are written by about 100 different people, and his music is terrible.

Don't ever say "no offence" when giving your opinion on some music. If you hate it, you hate it and that's cool

For those who don't listen to mainstream radio, just so you know this song is still getting absolutely hammered probably about a dozen times a day without fail. It is really growing very very tiring now listening to this. Once a semi liked song now I completely loathe it

This is why I don't listen to radio stations. I guess it's out of your control if it's at work and the majority are happy to listen to the same 10 songs every hour.

If radio stations didn't have playlists and focused on playing more variety of music then people wouldn't be sick of hearing the same song all the time. It's a shame that radio playlists are so restricted.

Awful dreck. The only reason I can think why this is doing well is that it's bootleg Ed Sheeran and while he's gone, this is what we have to deal with in his stead. I don't even like Sheeran but I'd take ten of his songs over this.

I was in the doctor's last week and they interviewed them on local radio. Its band not one guy. He said its the name of the band, not sure if he is Lukas? He is Danish/Irish, he waffled about his granny in Dublin.

It is a band yes but the lead singer's name is Lukas Graham.

Don't see the appeal but it clearly has appeal to many. Easy-ish to ignore...

If you like this sort of thing I suggest you check out songs by 70s singer/songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan. His songs have a similar "storyline" style but IMHO is head and shoulders above Lukas Graham. "Nothing Rhymed" and "Alone Again Naturally" are far superior.

Put a good strong male vocalist on the track and I think it'd be half decent but his voice is AWFUL!!
