there are so many cases where this doesnt happen i dont believe it. Especially since most players are foreigners nowadays
I haven't noticed a lack of intensity or desire in derby matches because of all the foreigners who play in our league.

Anyhow, this stuff about Chelsea/Spurs/Leicester is just a bit a speculative fluff and fun until the next key matches ...

Chelsea are on the beach already, several of them barely broke into a sweat against City yesterday.

I'd have no concerns about either Leicester or Spurs needing to go there and win.

If Barca can hit a run of defeats like this, then so can Leicester!! There's hope for Tottenham fans yet!

Of course, but on paper it's an easy run-in!

They generally win matches when the pressure is off. They still aren't under real serious pressure for top 4 yet
So Arsenal have got an easy run in have they, West Brom could park the bus, Norwich and Sunderland are fighting for their lives, Man City need to be in the top four and Aston Villa could be tough, No forget that Arsenal will win that game

hehe nice one.

It's not in Mark Hughes DNA to roll over for anyone, so if I was a Spurs fan, I would keep my eyes firmly and anxiously on the match tomorrow night.

Yes, it could be a tricky run-in.

I thin Arsenal often strugle against teams that set-out defensively aganst them.

And like you say - games against Norwich and Sunderland are by no means easy, bearing in mind both clubs are fighting against relegation.

Aye, but Chelsea haven't lost to Spurs at Stamford Bridge in ages.

They'll raise their game, and Terry will probably return for that.

Ah, I didn't know that. Nor apparently did this journalist,

There are many bitter rivalries in London but events over the past 10 years have made Tottenham’s clashes with Chelsea arguably now the most contentious of all.

The clubs have been on collision course from the moment Roman Abramovich’s interest in Spurs was ignored and his millions were lavished on Stamford Bridge instead.

The animosity between the fans has always been there and for some Tottenham supporters, Chelsea have replaced traditional enemies Arsenal as the club they most want to beat.

Chelsea and Tottenham are big rivals. Not quite as much animosity as those two with West ham, but certainly no love lost...

Now that the dust has settled and emotions are less raw what do people think of Moss's decisions in retrospect? On an objective basis

My 2c after sleeping on it

- I think WH should have had a penalty just before Vardy goal
- Vardy's first yellow was an awful harsh decision
- Vardy definitely initiated contact for the penalty claim and it definitely wasn't a penalty. Giving a yellow was very harsh in the circumstances I thought but he did try and buy it..
- Morgan and Huth had been warned, and I honestly do think Morgan left Moss with no option
- Foul on Huth in WH box was a stone-waller
- Leicester's penalty was an atrocious decision and a real cop-out

It probably balanced out in the end

So, was it a point gained or two dropped?

Definitely one gained for me- in the circumstances and given the late stage of the season

I think perspective is needed here and the game needs to be looked at as part of a wider picture

- when they lost to Arsenal, leicester fans (and newly acquired fans like myself ) would have given their left leg for 20 out of the next 24 points
- When they drew with WBA, they would have bit your hand off for 16 out of the next 18 pts
- They would have bitten off whatever else was available for a 5 point lead going into the last 4 matches, at any stage!
- I suspect they would have gladly taken 7 from 9 points since the international break too in 3 awkward fixtures

And based on the match itself, yes they were 1-0 up and creating a chance or two with Vardy still on but I was starting to sense they were hanging on a bit. Set pieces were causing them trouble and Morgan/Huth were on a fine-line throughout. 2-1 down with ten men playing against the 5th/6th best team in the league heading into injury time, to snatch a draw has to be seen as a point gained imo. The manner in which they were handed the lifeline and after watching that early WH chance somehow stay out... you just get the sense their "name is on the trophy" and all that.

Onto the crucial swansea game now. Beat them like they should and I can't see them not winning the league

Vardy's second yellow was absolutely deserved for me, he's tried to deceive the referee and cheat Ogbonna by initiating his own foul. It's like grabbing someone's hands and hitting yourself in the face with them in the hope of getting them arrested for assault (and then screaming blue murder at the nearby police officer who was wise to your tricks)

I don't understand anyone who thinks Vardy should not have been sent off, he tried to cheat and con the referee, so therefore he fully deserved to get his second yellow card.

His 2nd yellow was certainly deserved, blatant con job. Not sure his 1st was a yellow though.

For me 1st yellow- harsh, 2nd yellow - correct card given
West Ham penalty correct, both Huth & Morgan had enough warnings, action was then rightly taken. Leicester penalty - no, not really.

I think Ulloa deserves special mention for such a composed penalty too, emotions were running in overdrive at the time and he's not the usual taker. I can't be the only one who couldn't even watch?

Like Lonerider says the main issue is the first yellow. batdude do you think his first was a deserved yellow if you're so sure he should have been sent off?

I still think not much of an eyelid would have been batted had the ref just waved play on after the pen claim though.

The two main issues for me tho were the Huth penalty not given and the Leicester one that was. So it balanced out really

I have no issue with either of Vardy's yellows. The first was a late tackle, one you see players booked for on a regular basis. The second was as blatant a dive as you will see. He threw his legs into the West Ham player to get the contact he was looking for, and to try and con the ref and the ref didn't buy it. I don't know how anyone can say it shouldn't have been a booking for simulation.

I think both penalties were soft, but I think, on the whole, there were more fouls on West Ham players in the box than there were on Leicester players in the box. Huth on Reid in particular, I have no clue how he got away with what he did. The ref was looking right at that forearm smash right before Leicester scored and simply ignored it. In the second half, there was an occasion where he had his arms round Reid's neck (I think it was Reid on that occasion?) and again the ref gave nothing. I have it as Leicester should have had one penalty and West Ham should have had at least two.

Doesn't matter how harsh the first yellow was (and Sky commentary suggested it was a cumulative award rather than for that offence in isolation), but Vardy was on a yellow, so what on earth was he thinking of wrapping his leg round the defenders legs and throwing himself to the floor. It was an act of utter stupidity, compounded by his rant at being caught out. What a f*****ng muppet.

The season now probably comes down to whether Moss makes anything of it in his report. If he doesn't Vardy misses Swansea next Sunday [probable home win anyway tbh] and then returns for the last three v ManU, Everton & Chelsea. If Moss does include it Spurs have a massive advantage thrown their way. Punish the player not the team or the fans; I'm pretty angry at Vardy at the mo for his stupidity & his petulance, which could cost them big.

Have I ever mentioned how much I've supported Stoke over the last few errrr... hours? Come on you Stoke.

Gary Mabbutt on Radio 4 news this morning was emphatic: Vardy should not have been sent off; on the contrary he should/could have been awarded a penalty as the defender had initially placed his hand on his shoulder and Vardy was completely within his right to go down.

Mabbutt as most of you will know was a longstanding player for Spurs and I think he is now an ambassador for the club, so I was pretty surprised by this, not least because I thought one of the very few things the referee got right in a woefully incompetent performance was booking Vardy for that incident.

The interview with Mabbutt, only a few minutes long, can be heard at point 2h 26m at this link http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0774ys8

As for the referee, for once I agree with Shearer and Wright who go through many of the key decisions - "I would give Moss a mark of three out of 10, and I think I am being quite generous," added Wright

It's a little worrying when a relatively oldschool centre back is encouraging forwards to throw themselves to the ground if they're so much as touched.

He was booked for simulation; the full swallow dive with pike as a result of feeling a hand brush the shoulder is a dive in anyone's book. Vardy was a prat for going down like he did, tbh he does go down quite easily so should have had the nous to make a better job of it rather than launching himself like he did. It was a dive; he got caught out and was rightly booked.

As no doubt you heard when you listened to the clip, Mabbutt was making the point about Vardy in the context of his views about the manhandling which was infesting the game in the penalty area. He was arguing, I believe, for zero tolerance and for a major purge of this in the opening weeks of next season with if necessary multiple dismissals in a game to stamp it out. In that context, I think he would see himself as being perfectly consistent in what he was saying about Vardy being manhandled in the penalty area.

Yes, but "buying" a penalty (or free kick) is almost considered legitimate these days, you see it every week. Forgetting the hand on the shoulder, which was the lightest of touches, there was contact when Vardy crossed in front of Ogbonna. Running at pace that contact would have been enough to justify Vardy going down.
You can argue it was gamesmanship, and no doubt Vardy knew what he was doing, but I can't see how it deserved a yellow card. It shouldn't have been a penalty to Leicester either, I just think the referee should have waved play-on and told Vardy that he knew what he was up to.
