If you adjust for inflation and apply today's conversion rates, turns out it's Phil Babb.

Even when we were in our pomp, we never really got the neutrals love I don't think, there was always something to supposedly dislike about us.
Not sure that's true. Even as a Liverpool fan I remember really enjoying United beating the legendary miserly Arsenal side 6-2 at Highbury in the Rumbelows Cup in 1990, inspired by a young Lee Sharpe (obviously still scarred by THAT Thomas goal in 1989).

The media loved it too - it was Arsenal's first defeat that season and was totally unexpected. For me, it was the first signs of Ferguson's United evolving into a real threat with some steady older heads mixed with young talent.

As always, everyone enjoyed the underdog triumphing - until they become the dominant force. United fans of recent vintage will have seen nothing but success and therefore have a perception that they've always been disliked. The other side of the coin is the wave of sympathy that rightly came their way following the Munich disaster which went a long way to cement their national and international popularity.

Successful sides will become disliked over time and this will embed itself deeper if the success is sustained, especially by local rivals.

The entire Neymar transfer saga appears (Allegedly) to be one massive bit of tax dodging dodginess that even Jimmy Carr would be proud off.

I agree very much with this. Indeed, as a little boy it was watching the news reports surrounding the Munich disaster that emotionally tied me to United for many years - until they had won the European Cup and all that symbolised emotionally for the club - while simultaneously sewing the seeds of my interest in football. Prior to this I was exclusively a rugby league and cricket fan..

I can remember at some point in the long period of dominance of Liverpool supporting almost anyone else - almost an ABL, if you like, although it never quite got to that. And then during the much more recent dominance of United, I was even reduced at one point to cheering on Chelsea and I never thought as a born and bred lad from Leeds, with a very healthy dislike of Chelsea, I would ever do that. I got over that, the cheering of Chelsea, the dislike is still in there somewhere, it's in the DNA I reckon

The whole business I think with his father doesn't seem exactly what you might think would be what would be acceptable in a transfer (allegedly).

Martinez must be the next manager to go, even if the unlikely happens and Everton win the cup...his stats are dire, he lives in a world of delusion...the board must be able to see that, a 26% win percentage this year.
It's part of his master plan. He does his best work when his teams are nearer to the bottom of the league and it's April and May.

He'll go unbeaten the rest of the way and restart the process next year.

A lot of Utd and Arsenal fans not showing up for their last game.

Utd are doing really well and could nick top 4. Is it just that you want a change of Manager? If you finish top 4 and win FA Cup, do you still want LVG out?

Arsenal, is it a Wenger protest?

Genuinely curious.

Yes we want LvG out, the football has been dire, and it is a bit of a miracle that we are even still in with a shout of a top four place, as we have been so boring to watch, and really overall we do not deserve to be anywhere near the Champions League.

Fans want to be entertained and compete to win trophies.

Some owners may be satisfied to pick up Champions league money every year and sign up big sponsors to endorse their product. Fans don't want to be seen as mugs!

United haven't 'entertained' for some time. A handful of good games usually against the better teams but generally the football has been shite! Our manager has more lives than a cat. His shameless credit taking for introducing young players has got him out of a hole this season.

Rashford got a chance because both Rooney and Marshall were injured, Wilson (our back up) had been sent on loan and Hernandez, Van Persie and Falcao had been moved on.

The majority of the young players who have been given debuts by Van Gaal have had limited game time. Marcus and Tim are the only ones who have got regular game time this season.

Aguero makes it 2 from the spot

How did Shawcross not get a yellow for clothes-lining Iheanacho ?

The referee in the City game is a dead ringer for Paddy McGuinness.

Shawcross is such a rash player. He should have tried to run alongside his man but he seems to be more interested in fouling most of the time.

Liverpool's Sakho has failed a drugs test. Very bizarre.

Iheanacho looks very assures. Two goals again today puts him on 11 for the season, very impressive for a youngster who only gets game time hear or there. He's gone under the radar in terms of media hype but definitely one to watch.

Sturridge already on the score sheet in under 2 minutes; Newcastle in deep deep trouble.

That was a cracking goal by Sturridge. Brilliantly taken.

While it would be ridiculous to say the match is over after less than 20 minutes, this has been an incredibly comfortable game for Liverpool, games as part of their training sessions will be far more taxing. Newcastle have yet to give any sign they are capable of scoring a goal.

Still, another game for Sturridge to get back to his sharpest, good for Liverpool and also for England in the Euros. A fit Sturridge should be one of the first names on the England team sheet.

A second very fine goal, this time from Lallana and Newcastle now clinging to the premier league by broken finger nails.

I wouldn't have Sturridge as one of the first names on the England team sheet, to do so would presumably mean dropping one of either Vardy and Kane, and neither deserve to be dropped.
