It's a bit flat this game isn't it?

Oh geez......Robbie savage and Chappers on R5 still going on about this being a good result for City, 0-0........Madrid didn't get an away goal

Robbie '0-0, good result'

No it isn't !

3-0 would have been a good result, 2-0 par, 1-0 iffy, 0-0 you're going out of the competition

What do you think the score would have been if Ronaldo was playing

I thought they were already getting hammered against PSG? It's not a great result but it's not a bad result.

Of course it's not.
City have two results to go thru, a win and score draw.
Real have to win.

It's a big ask for sure but as you say, City had no chance in the last round so.......

Real have two results that could mean they go through, a win or a 0-0 and win on pens, so they don't technically have to win in the 90 or after extra time.

City have that method too

If Man City score then Real need to score 2, that isn't a bad situation to be in for City. Even if Real score City only need 1 goal.

There's no way anyone can guarantee a Real Madrid home win once you're at the semi-final stage. Not conceding an away goal in the first leg is always a good thing.

I still don't get this business of 0-0 being 'a good result'

If it was so good why don't teams just park the bus if they're drawn at home first and put 10 men behind the ball and play for a 0-0 draw

I reckon it's probably well odds on that Real will beat City at the Bernabau so City had to win the home leg.........a draw is not a good result as they're almost certainly going out of the competition now.

A 2-0 win would have been a good result and kept them in the tie.

It's good because the home side in the second leg will be wary of conceding. Nobody's saying it's the best possible result.

Because they now don't have the pressure of conceding a home goal...that pressure is now with RM, means City can be a little bit more offensive.

That 0-0 becomes 2-0 in effect if City scored first at RM.

I understand why the pundits are saying it's a good result........I just don't agree with them

To my mind City are almost certainly going to lose the away leg so they had to win the home leg

a draw wasn't a good result

I agree with you. While 0-0 is obviously better than a humiliating defeat, taking zero goals from the home leg to the Bernabeu, where Real have an 18-0 record in the Champions League this season, is a long., long way from being good.

0-0 at home is certainly an improvement to Man City's past endeavours against top teams in the knock out stages, the last two seasons they conceded 2 goals at home which made their task all that more impossible.

Can Man City beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu? It's highly unlikely but stranger things have happened in a champions league semi final.

Can they get a score draw? Much less unlikely

When you get to the semi finals of the Champions League the teams incapable of getting a result tend to have already fallen by the wayside. The idea of Man City advancing is far from outlandish.

I always thought the adage when playing in Europe was to make sure you win your home games.

Yes........you draw away and win at home and bob's your uncle

If the first leg had been in Madrid and City had got a draw all the pundits would have said that was a great result.........bring 'em back all square to Manchester.

No doubt the Spanish pundits are saying that RM got a great result last night......draw the away leg, beat them at home

It is but if you cant do that the next best thing is not to concede.

What's this talk of Flores getting sacked as Watford manager? This is a late April fools joke right?

I think he only has a 1 year contract, so technically not sacked but I agree he's done a good job all things considered.

A 0-0 at home n the first leg is most definitely not a good result.
