These fans spend money on their club, they're entitled be called fans. They don't need to attend games all the time, because of distance and money they won't be able to.
I mean I don't go the game that often, because of money and availability, it's hard to get tickets unless you're a season ticket holder and even then there are difficulties, and getting a season ticket at Liverpool is also difficult, not just financially. Am I a gloryhunter? Am I less of a fun? I do go to games when I can, mainly cup games since they're easier to get, but not regularly.”
Well you're from Liverpool I assume you feel at least some connection to the team and place. But I've no idea anything about you so no clue how much of a fan you are
At the end of the day football teams are products and the most popular ones will always generate the most following. Everyone in Ireland follows their local gaa team and rugby team. If they put as much support into their soccer team the league wouldn't be as sub standard as it is.
Supporting a team because you saw them play well as a kid on telly is a bit odd when you really think about it! It's amazing no Irish people have family in Leicester or Birmingham !!
Supporting a club will mean different things to different people but when I compare it to the support I give connacht rugby and my local gaa team I cannot seriously claim to "support" a team hundreds of miles away who I have no direct affiliation to
