I think that is called the Barthez school of goalkeeping!

what exactly is the point of this appeal?

Ive never seen it change a lino's mind!

I hate to see players with their arms up like this, its ridiculous - players cannot signal offside.

It should be like brandishing a fake card, they should get a yellow.

That would be the worst rule change in the history of sport.

Just seen that man united need 5 points and Chelsea need 3 points to avoid each of their worst ever points tallies since premier league began.

Watford have beaten their best by 13 points so far (3 previous seasons).

Pretty sure they'll manage it, they've both got 4 games left so it won't be too much of a stretch.

why?

you dont see players pointing to the spot if they think its a penalty, or holding up a flag if it goes for a throw in.

"Appealing" is complete and utter nonsence.

You see a player miscontrol the ball and kick it out, he then "appeals" for a throw in with his arm up! Blatant cheating.

Should be carded.

You don't know what's an honest appeal and what's an attempt at deception, and neither of them have any kind of direct impact that requires punishment. You may as well hand out suspensions to players who arch their eyebrows slightly menacingly or have the referee carry round a big swear jar in case someone breaks out some fruity language.

They do. Vardy was given an extra day off work and invited to put £10,000 in the FA's swear jar for his 'human reaction' to being identified as a bit of a diver.

Who's to blame for Arsenal's failure to win the Premier League?

Is it the players for lacking guts and a strong mentality when the going got tough?

Is it the manager for lacking fresh ideas and flexibility to inject a new impetus into his team?

Is it the board for seemingly failing to show an interest or challenge either of the above for their lack of success?

No, it's the fans!

Quote:
“Arsene Wenger has hit out at fans for making the Emirates Stadium a “difficult climate” this season and blaming the hostile environment for Arsenal’s failure to win the Premier League title this season.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday evening’s visit of Norwich, Wenger said: “We lost the championship at home against the lower teams, but we played at home in a very difficult climate.

“We have to realise that, away from home, we are championship winners. At home, against the smaller teams, we lost the league.

"I can understand the frustration of our fans. But, despite that, they want to support our team. The best chance they can give our team is to be behind our team. Some groups of people try to manipulate our fans, and I believe apart from an agenda, a personal agenda, a big ego, there's not a lot behind it.””

Not withstanding the fact that Arsenal would not be champions if only away games were taken into account - they'd be third behind Spurs and Leicester - this kind of continual lack of responsibility and self-reproach on Wenger's part may well indicate that many Arsenal fans are not going to get the change at the top they want any time soon.

Strange how you didn't make such a furs when such appealing was a staple of Chelsea's back line a few season's back? They even featured it on the analysis as I recall...

Wenger's taken a PR masterclass from Joleon Lescott there.

To be fair, going strictly by what Wenger says, I actually agree with him, they would win the Championship, they are too good for that division.

Winning the Premier League, yeahhh not so much.

While Wenger is blaming the fans for Arsenal's failure to win the league title this season, Van Gaal has put responsibility for United's similar lack of success on the limited experience of his squad in winning championships.

The Dutchman cited a lack of titles among his squad, although the facts do not back up his assertion. Van Gaal picked out David De Gea as a player who has not won a title with United, even though he was one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Premier League champions in 2013. Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick have both won the Premier League five times with United; Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young have all won it at least once, while Bastian Schweinsteiger, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo, Marouane Fellaini and Memphis Depay have been title winners overseas.

Van Gaal said: “The players that we are now playing, they are not used to being the champions. I don’t think [Matteo] Darmian is used to being the champion, and De Gea was never champion. Memphis Depay was champion last year, so not many players. Rooney, Carrick, they have been the champions once and maybe more, but you have to see always the situation where a club is ...

Not sure if he is reminding me of his predecessor Moyes or of Hodgson at Anfield. Maybe both, although perhaps neither would have cited lack of title winning experience in a season in which a club who have never won the title in over 130 years are likely to be crowned champions, with a squad containing only 1 player who has previously won the premier league title.

There was something very off about the players taking selfies and acting like they won the league after they sneaked a win v Leicester after looking clueless against 11 men. I really went off them then and laughed so hard when they crashed and burned v United's under 21 team!!!

No steal or backbone and too many soft players. It's a pity as there were so many warriors playing for the club throughout all of Wenger 's tenure. It won't happen but he needs to do the decent thing and move on if arsenal are going to win leagues again

The scenes at Everton are heart-wrenching. The whole stadium on their feet whilst Liverpool fans who fought for justice came onto the pitch. The rivalry is there but the support from Goodison has been superb over the past 27 years.

And Martinez hugging the family members as they walked off.

Big win for west ham if they hold on

While Leicester will obviously take all the headlines from this season any other year and west ham would be considered a serious success story

If the Newcastle crowd get any more tense they will be asking Sakho for advice on drugs to calm their nerves. Rogue supporter blows for half time and lots of fans start leaving - meanwhile the game continues. Now the ref blows for half time. Thank goodness that is over.

As a bonus, so they said, NBC show the start of second half of Stoke v Sunderland. Maybe I was being a tad too harsh about the game at St James' Park. ...

Inspired by some energy and purpose from Wijnaldum, Newcastle exert pressure and the crowd find their voices, not so much from the match, but from Stoke taking the lead against Sunderland.

And Townsend scores from a beautiful free kick!

C'mon the Toon! Out of the relegation zone in the live table although Sunderland have a game in hand and Norwich two

Norwich are safe though apparently for weeks now - that would be according to batdude of course

I can't believe the Mags have relegated Sunderland, thought it was an easy win at Stoke, they've been dire.
