The players look kind of embrassed that they are Premier league champions

Might have to wait for the knockout rounds, as if Barcelona win their league, they will be in pot one together.

You saw Blackburn lift it and Nottingham Forest come third in the same season.

Its tricky to make that scan in a chant.

"Barcelona we're coming for you, provided we both make it through the group stages and then draw each other in the knockout rounds" lacks a certain something.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I think most people are aware of that. We know that the champions go into pot one.

It's a chant, you don't need to clarify things in a chant to avoid the pedants in the audience.

That was not much of a shock as Leicester City winning it

It's also worth noting that two teams that are in Pot 1 cannot be in the same Champions League Group Stage group together. The same applies for all of the teams in Pot 2, all of the teams in Pot 3 and all of the teams in Pot 4. The groups are specifically made up of a team from each pot.

LIkewise for many other footballing tournaments in which there are group stages and pots.

Good point, I forgot about that.

And of course, clubs from the same country cannot be drawn against each other in the first round of knockout games. HOWEVER clubs from the same country CAN be drawn against each other in the Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and the Final itself. Although 2 teams from the same country would have to win a lot of matches to meet in the final!

Its also worth noting that football chants aren't always absolutely 100% factually accurate!

Leicester for example aren't actually "The champions of the world" despite their fans just singing it.

So not so much a chant, more a four act opera

Arsenal better get their chequebook out and get Kante and Mahrez.

Don't know how you'd manage to fit all this into a chant, and then get thousands of people to sing it.

I hope they both stay just where they are, but I cannot see either of them moving to another premier league club next season, and definitely not to one not in the Champions League.

They are talking to Leicester Citys scout, Steve Walsh, Arsenal could do with him right now

It might require a lyric sheet and a bit of rehearsals, but I'm sure it can be done with a bit of patience. After all. it's important that football chants and songs are 100% factually accurate.

That was one of the most interesting little interviews I have heard for a while; wouldn't have minded another 15 minutes of that.

Yes, he sounds like a fascinating man, with lots of knowledge.

Love the Leicester story like everyone else but the stuff with the owners parading around with a monarch's portrait and the trophy is hella creepy. The trophy should be for the players/coaches and the owners should get the hell off the pitch.

That might be a job for the England band.

Damn right, as long as it has no bearing on Van Gaal staying.

If it means that we don't hear that atrocious version "When The Saints" 6000 times in a game, than that'd be splendid.
