Winning the Champions League and FA Cup, regular Champions League football with another final appearance, finishing PL runners up with a points total higher than 2 years ago, you're obviously basing your comment on his final season which was poor. Of course many may not want him, because he managed Liverpool, but his spell with the club was hardly a disaster.

I suspect that they wouldn't, but I don't quite see where else there might be an opening at a suitable sized club for him to get back into management in the Premier League.

I was more thinking along the lines of would they be happy having an ex-Liverpool manager as their own manager?

What he achieved at Liverpool was very impressive, and he would be a step up no doubt from their current manager, however the links with Liverpool might be hard to get over for some I would think.

But what he wants wouldn't matter. The same thing that you think would get in the way of Rafa going there would also apply to Brendan Rodgers.

Of for sure it would, so it will be kind of interesting to see where both of them end up next.

Indeed. Once he'd worked out what his best side was, they've been unbeaten ever since - even coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Liverpool.

If they had appointed him even a month earlier, there's probably a good chance they'd be safe by now.

So everything's pretty much done and dusted before the final round of matches. We know who are champions, we know the three teams going down. It's only the final CL place now that's still not certain.

Sad news for Danny Welbeck again

Another operation and another 9 months out

I think we'll miss him at the Euros

Hope the op goes well

Maybe Celtic for Rodgers.

As for Everton, Rodgers not a chance, there are good arguments for Rafa because of his achievements, wouldn't be a popular choice though with many fans.

Current favourites for Everton are:-

Hughes (Really hope not)
De Boer
Koeman
Rafa
Pellegrini

Last year it was the Europa league Martinez blamed for their poor league form.

This year it's the FA cup to blame

Koeman would not leave Southampton and step down to Everton

On current form it maybe a step down...but it will depend on which clubs he sees has better potential, he may see that as Southampton, alternatively he may see it as Everton or another club.

Though personally I am not bothered about Koeman, it's a meh appointment.

I wouldn't class Everton as a step down from Southampton. They're not currently faring better, but old and recent history is on their side. Koeman's in a position that has all the potential in the world though so I wouldn't leave for that reason.

De boer will go Everton I think.

Martinez has had such a poor season. Really lost his way.

Yeah, he's just left Ajax.

I still rate Martinez despite the awful season.

In what sense do you rate him? he hasn't just had one awful season.

I know...maybe the fact that he seems like a nice guy has influenced me!
I think he did a very good job for Wigan, (in the days before 5000/1 shots won the league)! And I like the football he tries to play.

Martinez is one of the luckiest managers in the game to still be looked upon with any sort of credibility. He had Wigan doing nothing for three quarters of the season and yet when they finally start playing from Easter onwards it was spun as a great escape! No one ever asked why it took them three quarters of a season to start playing.

De Boer leaving Ajax has I think sealed Martinez's fate, as I do think he will end up replacing him at Everton.

That would be a good appointment for them, as I do think he would bring different ideas from Martinez to the club.

Just seen the news about De Boer and agree about Everton. Would be a great appointment for them.

I know it's not going to happen but I'd like to see Rafa stick with Newcastle. I think he'd probably have them straight back up and he'd be a good addition to the Premiership.

I don't know about coming straight back up, as The Championship is probably the most competitive league around, and the hardest to get promoted out of.

They pissed it last time and they'd really have to bungle the managerial appointment to avoid the same again. I'd expect Norwich to at least earn a playoff spot and Villa is anyone's guess, I could easily see them continue the downward momentum unless they do a real upheaval.

It's so random it's probably one of the easiest leagues to win. All you need is any sort of consistency. They pissed it the last time as Celesti said, barely lost a game I think

That's like saying City is a step down from leicester. Everton are a far more established PL club

Wish him all the best but disagree he's a loss, he's played well in an England shirt but the qualifying group was a joke. Much rather Vardy, Kane, Rooney and Sturridge against the big boys

The same wigan with fk all relative resources and arguably the worst playing squad in the league at the time? he did a tremendous job with them oh and won an FA Cup

They punched above their weight every year in the PL, they were always a championship standard squad

Yeah they waited far too late. I remember how competitive they were even in their first game under benitez v leicester. Didn't this follow up a thrashing the week before?
