He still has two games to go, and finishing out of the top four just sums his shot shy tactics up for what they are.

I think Rafa would guide Newcastle straight back to the premier league if he remained in charge, providing Mitrovic is sent back to Serbia. Someone like that in the squad - almost no technical ability but lots of force not all legitimately used - drags the entire ethos of the team down in my view.

Leicester, Arsenal and Spurs in the CL group stages

Manchester City into the CL qualifying spot

Southampton into the Europa League

We got drama, but not for the right reasons unfortunately at Old Trafford and hopefully the authorities will be quick to catch the person or persons responsible

You would imagine many of those Bournemouth players would be off on holiday this week. Another weeks training for them.they won't be happy.

I'm not Newcastle fan but I would like to see him stay and get them back into prem. He's certainly capable of doing it. Also because of who he is I think a lot players will want to go there even if they're not top quality, they'll still be good enough to get them back up. He needs to be given the funds and I think Ashley will do that.

Just to confirm - are Saints in the Europa League, or have they qualified for the knock-outs?

Saints have definitely qualified for Europa League

Just a matter of that last match and the Cup Final to where they will start in the competition

I agree. He didn't win the UEFA coach of the year award with two different sides (the only coach to do so) by not knowing what he was doing.

I can't really work it out but it says that if man Utd win the fa cup and they have already qualified for Europe their space would go to the highest finishing team who hasn't already qualified for Europe

But ultimately the table doesn't lie. Spurs in their best season without silverware since the 60's have still finished below a poor Arsenal side. The whole spurs power shift thing is why Arsenal fans are giving it right back to spurs fans today after taking abuse from them all season.

If United win the FA Cup then West Ham will be in the Europa League.

To me, I think it's going to depended on Rafa's motivation, if it's enough of a challenge and worthwhile for him to consider staying. There's also the weighing up the worry of being stuck in the championship, as if he doesn't get out now, he'll be locked in with the contract, and could be in the championship for more than one season. Obviously the best case scenario would be for Rafa managing and coming straight back up into the PL, but there's no guarantee with football. If Newcastle come straight back up with Rafa as manager, I wonder where they be in the PL, can they make it all the way to the top?

Mitrovic maybe a thug at times, however from watching him the last few games, he's a key player who kept the hope of staying the PL alive. He scored or assisted most of the goals in the last few games. I think he reminds me of a young Eric Cantona, and I feel he has the potential to be such a prolific footballer for Newcastle.

Well, I reckon Spurs fell apart after the 'Leicester City, we're coming for you!' chanting, when Leicester just stood their ground and Spurs failed to win another match.

I take it you mean Eric Cantona the wrestler, not the Eric Cantona who I saw play for Leeds United who had more skill, vision and sheer ability in his little finger than Mitrovic has in his entire body.

It is strange seeing the Newcastle looking so miserable even though their team scored five, and won, even with a man sent off

I think since Rafa has signed a 3 year contract he'll stay for one more year. Even more so if Ashley promises him the funds to fight for at least top 6 in the prem.

I think the fact that they got relegated might have played a part in that...

Yeah, that's what they'd have you believe. I'd imagine they will be crying into their lasagne now. No celebration DVD's either.

Ashley should give Rafa whatever he wants.
