Quite a few people on Twitter suggesting that the training device explanation is a phoney one being peddled by GMP in order to prevent panic. Stan Collymore has asked a number of pertinent questions: Quote:
1. Nobody knew of Wednesday drill amongst stewards, #MUFC staff?
2. Experienced company leaving shot behind in heightened security times? 3. Every news outlet putting "accidental" narrative out without any questions? 4. Police calming genuine fears with "accidental" line? 5. Wednesday to Sunday Man United have no cleaners on site checking/cleaning loos? 6. Company left one rogue device but took the rest? 7. Security company walks away from Old Trafford Wednesday without an inventory check and does nothing till Sunday till Police check? Security company allowed at England's biggest club stadium without proper protocol to check inventory on leaving? Hmmm. |

A suspicious item discovered at Old Trafford on Sunday was a training device, police have confirmed.
The Premier League match between Manchester United and Bournemouth was called off after the suspect package was found shortly before kick-off and a controlled explosion carried out. Police said the item had "accidentally" been left by a private company after a training exercise on Wednesday. The match has been rearranged for Tuesday at 20:00 BST. Manchester's Police Commissioner is not happy at all about today's incident.

Did anyone know that the season isn't properly over yet and there's still one game to play? Someone should mention it on every page.

And if people had any nous at all and understood that not everything they read is to be taken literally, people wouldn't have to be pedantic.

Dele Alli's goal against Crystal Palace in January has been voted MOTD's Goal of the Season.
Apparently they didn't get the memo about the season not being over yet. |

Stan Collymore has asked a number of pertinent questions: 1. They did of course but the device looked like a bomb even if they suspected it was a fake they could not take any chances 2. Surprising perhaps but mistakes do happen even in the best companies 3. The Police / UNT gave a press conference in which they said it was an accidental. So the fact all the press had the same line is not shocking. 4. It is 100% certain if the bomb was real they would not be playing Tuesday. They would have launched a full investigation to find out where it came from which would have taken weeks 5. That is the biggest shock I have no idea how it was left for 5 days and found just before the match. 6. That seems to be the case yes. 7. The security company did not know one was missing clearly so had no reason to be looking for one. I suspect the equipment is just stored away until it is required. I doubt they would have spotted one was missing until the next time it was needed. I suspect the security company do have a system to count out and in the devices. It is just in this case something has gone wrong. It is certainly not beyond understanding that one of the devices went missing. In response to Collymore tin foil hat statements I would question why would either UTD or the Police claim it was a training device if it was a real bomb. First of all if they wanted to cover it up they could have just maintained it was a suspect package pointing out it was a backpack or some bag left behind but not a bomb. Why go to the effort of making the club look stupid for leaving a training device behind ? Second if it was a real bomb at some point the truth would have come out. you cannot just have a real bomb at a football ground without their being a massive hunt looking for the suspects. At some point they would have to come clean I assume at the point they arrest people for planting it. If that that point the police explained they lied about the bomb then fans turning up on Tuesday would be rightly outraged their safety was put at risk. Finally the most logical answer is even Stan does not believe the horse shit he comes out with but posts stupid comments on twitter to get people to phone into his show. |

Not sure if United have apologised for their role in this
If they did, would they then be liable for refunding travelling costs/expenses etc ? |

So Cech is "Worth" 10 points, so Ars would be 8th without him?

Nah, he is going no where, anytime soon, unless we got a seriously huge mega offer for him, which breaks Buffon's record for a keeper transfer, and somewhere near what Bale went for.
If he wants to go (and who could blame him?), and Madrid still want him, then he'll go for £30-40m. No way that it'll come close to Bale's fee. |
