We will see, but with said new TV deal, I suspect their budget will be a tad higher than that, as it will be for most clubs.”

Well obviously you know more than the owner. He said they planned on spending between £50m and £60m this summer., we have to take that information at face value If the default is that everyone is lying then there is not much point discussing anything at all.

Players that Liverpool will want to improve their team, will most likely also have offers from elsewhere, so the player(s), might have to decide if playing for Liverpool with perhaps higher wages, and no realistic firm prospect of Champions League football, outweighs moving to a team who might be competing in the Champions League, but with lower wages.

Competing in the Champions League, does elevate a players reputation, so that cannot be ignored.

So, it will be hard task this summer without Champions League football for Liverpool (same for us, and anyone outside of that magic bubble), but it can be done, but Liverpool will have to overturn recent history of bad buys, or overpaying for players that have not lived upto expectations.

Following on from another great Swedish referee, remember Anders Frisk, he was brilliant.

Eriksson would be my choice for Euro 2016 final

We will see, but he is not solely in charge there is he?
He is only co-chairman if I recall, so if his business partner comes out and agrees with him over that budget, then that would be more reliable.

Yes ok. I think you need to put your obvious dislike for Liverpool to one side in a thread for Neutrals. They will attract players, Klopp will attract players based on his reputation and if Liverpool pay good wages they will attract good players. Thats all that is being said I think.

Michael Owen and Steve McManaman look absolutely gutted

Good job they did not have anyone who used to play for Sevilla in the studio as him smiling all the time would have too much for them two to bare

Why? They dont work independently of each other. The man said that was their budget and I am just saying what he said. There is really no need for your argumentative attitude.

A comment that could easily be applied to United. It's all about fingers crossed at the moment that the United squad isn't really so mediocre and it is all down to van Gaal's so-called philosophy/system that so many of the relatively new acquisitions are so nothing special. We will only know for sure when he has gone, but at the moment United have had a pretty lousy return on the field of play for the money spent.

United will also be able to attract decent players too. They will also probably have a bigger budget than Liverpool. People are getting all bent out of shape but I have no doubt both will spend big in the summer.

As I said in the post that you quoted, it will be hard for us, and in our case, a lot will also depend on who our manager is that is trying to do the recruiting.

Yes he will, and it will be his first proper transfer window for the club. This for me is what Everton really need to get right, the appointment of the next manager, someone who has a reputation and can bring in players to the club, if they want to try and up their current level.

I suspect thats why Everton will want to go for a manager who is a big name. If they have a bit of money to spend with the new investment and they use that to get a manager who can attract players I think it could be quite an optimistic time for the club.

I dont think the money to buy players will be a problem for Liverpool also we can afford most players wages except Messi and Ronaldo. But how many of the players that we will target will want Champions League football, I bet most of them, but i think a few players will look at the history of the club and seeing that we have got a good manager in Jurgen Klopp and will want to play for us

Looks like De Boer is still favourite. If it was him, hopefully he could bring Bergkamp & Stam with him...and first dibs on some of the top talented Dutch League players before they get snapped by other clubs.

Agreed. Klopp has done a good job and the team performed heroics getting there, but there is was this tendency to put them on too high a pedestal in the build up. All the praise and enthusiasm now completely knocked back after a clueless 45 minutes where Liverpool not only surrendered the trophy but European football with it. Real setback in my opinion. They cant take anything positive from tonight.

I have put my dislike for them to one side in this thread, and tried to be as even handed with my discussions over this as possible.
Of course they will attract players, but to what degree that is the question, they might need to overpay (as for example we did with Di Maria), to get certain players, now that there is no Champions League football next season to offer to a player, and their recent record in this area, should be at the very least concerning for all Liverpool fans.

Ok Champ, Ive just read your glee at the Liverpool defeat in the Man Utd thread, I dont think there is much point in continuing to attempt a rational conversation about Liverpool with you. You can't be pretending to be even handed in the "neutral" thread when you are killing yourself laughing in the very non-neutral Man Utd thread. Makes no sense.

Why?

Can a person not do two things at once?

I can be happy and glee over in my own supporters thread, but here, I can be more rational, and calm, and measured, it is possible to do both.

They have Klopp now, so that really shouldn't be a worry...and Liverpool is still a club that will attract players, based on reputation..CL or not.

As for overpaying for players, that will be happen to every club in the PL.

Well no, thats really being very two faced.

Unless you are bipolar, then you aren't being very sincere in one of the threads, I suspect the one in which you are concerned for their ability to improve and attract players, so I dont really feel like continuing. Good evening.

We shall see how effective Klopp is, no doubt that he is a "name", so could on some level be an attraction for some players, is it, or rather will it be enough to convince players to select them ahead of other possibly Champions League clubs, we will soon find out I guess.

I agree about the overpaying comment.

It is not being two faced at all, it is separating the Man United fan, and the general football fan.

In here, one should be reasonable towards all clubs, and that is fair enough, and very understandable, and I have no issue with that whatsoever.

In a particular fans forum, you are allowed to show that more bias that you are nit allowed, or should not put forward in this thread.

So, it is possible to be reasonable in here, if you put aside club rivalries.

This poster has been known in the past to be acting friendly in the Liverpool thread while mocking us in the Man United thread, in the days before there was a neutral thread. Doesn't do that quite as much anymore, luckily. Seems to prefer to stick to the neutral thread, being a neutral.

This is the thread where you can get a multitude of opinions from many different club fans, so is the best one to try and gauge opinions on different topics, hence why I post in here more often.
