Smalling is the only centre back we have who's had a remotely decent season. The other two are complete liabilities in my book based on the past season. Both got replaced in their first teams and Cahill wouldn't have played again if Zouma didn't get injured.
He was easily man of the match last week and looked to be nearly back to his confident best . People forget how young he is , he'd have been better going to Chelsea last year and learning from John Terry . |

This Portuguese performance is reaffirming to everyone the fact that their side is nothing without Ronaldo.

Our anchor in the diamond is not collecting the ball from defence at all.

Wow red card in a friendly.
Watching the replay he could have taken Kane's head off with that Cantona kick. |

Well, there's a collector's item - a red card in a friendly match.
Fully deserved though, that's an appalling high challenge in any kind of fixture. Will that translate to Bruno Alves getting banned for Portugal's opening Euro 2016 match or two? |

The ref had no choice there, insane challenge in any match.
Sucks for England as they won't get real pre tournament prep now against 10 men. |

Not much doubt about that sending-off.

Can't believe they were actually arguing with the ref trying to say it wasn't a red.

Kane lucky to still possess a head after that challenge.

Sterling got sent off in the Ecuador game in the warm up to the last World Cup and played the first game v Italy. |

I've seen loads of similar assaults from Alves in the past .

That's actually one of the worst challenges I've ever seen. Alves is a ****ing idiot.
Kane lucky to come out of that unscathed. |

I thought it was impressively agile from Alves.
Most people would do themselves an injury just trying that. |

England have been sloppy in possession since Alves was sent off. Not working the Portuguese enough.

In an odd way, the sending off probably makes this a better test for England in how to patiently break down and unlock a team hunkered down in a defensive shape and mindset.
The first half doesn't fill you with confidence in their ability to do so, frankly. |

Hardly feels like anyone is playing for their places. Wonder if Roy told this eleven that they'll definitely start against Russia no matter.

That was pretty dreadful.
The high tackle was the best thing. |
