Well I'll give it another 15 minutes in the second half then I'm off to watch the rather fantastic Peaky Blinders . BBC2 9pm. I'll record the last 30 just in case Stones gets a runout

Game is pretty poor was always going to be harder against a team of the same level
How bad were Portugal though and we struggled badly against them. No creativity , so many with bad first touches tonight , Vardy , Milner , Dier , Cahill to name a few . Oh and THAT corner from Kane

Hardly feels like anyone is playing for their places. Wonder if Roy told this eleven that they'll definitely start against Russia no matter.
Should have been expected going into this one more than any other previous friendlies. The tournament starts in 8 days, none of them are exactly going to go out and play like it's a cup final. Friendlies aren't great at the best of times but one a week before the tournament starts was always going to see most of the players putting in half effort.

What is going on with all the lines cut into the grass?
I don't like it, very off putting.
The pitch has been the most interesting thing about the match - it is a bit distracting though. Is it meant to look like a shirt if you were looking at it from the other side?

I'm listening on the radio.........I didn't bother getting up to put the tely on

From the commentary it does seem that we can't play Rooney, Alli, Kane and Vardy.......the commentators are saying are saying that they're getting in each others way and looking for the same spaces

Probably means Vardy misses out with Rooney and Kane up top, Alli in behind them with another midfielder coming in

Wilshere, if he's fit

Sturridge and Wilshere in the same squad for a tournament - what's Roy thinking !

What if they break down in training , can we swap them in the squad ??

Typical final friendly before a tournament (apart from that impressive karate interlude). Need to play quicker and a bit longer at times.

Il never stop getting irritated by that empty corporate box after half time, they should have put it the other side of the stadium then I wouldn't have to think about it

This has got to be one of the most boring matches I've watched in ages, they all look like they need a holiday.

I believe injured players can be replaced up to the tournament commencing but not sure what the criteria is for that. I mean how injured they need to be. Once it kicks off then you have to use the players that are available in the squad.

Is that what it is? I wondered why those sections were half empty.

It has the feeling of a friendly before a summer holiday rather than a summer tournament but, as said before, no players are going to risk injury at the moment. It's a bit concerning that the diamond hasn't really been used though; it looks like we'll be going into the Russia match with a 4-3-3 which, I think, is the wrong move.

Mexican wave the ultimate indictment of poor football matches.

Please God don't let us get this kind of stuff in the tournament proper.

we never really look tactically astute tbh ,, i still think Woy is playing square pegs in round holes , just to fit his favourites in

It really must be bad there,, England fans are usually the ones to snub a Mexican wave, just to wind up the rest of the stadium

I wonder what PepG or Wenger would do with this England squad ?

Or do we just not have the talent to play attractive and effective football ??

There are 9 average at best , ageing Portugese guys comfortably holding all our shining lights at bay , without breaking sweat .

Vardy being used in this position is a total waste of a place in the team.

Need some pace and width here to break Portugal down. I know it's not that important but it's at least worth trying out a plan B.

Reliving the Scotland match on the BBC website made me realise what a bad state England were in heading into that game - criticism off the pitch for a booze up in Asia prior to the tournament, criticism in it after a poor 1-1 draw in the opening match against Switzerland. We lacked balance, especially in terms of width, and Gascoigne's place in the team was widely questioned. If McAllister had converted that penalty it could have been a very different tournament.
