It depends on how rich this guy is or more importantly how much of his cash he wants to part with.

We've seen more than a few chancers over the years when it comes to investors.
We've also seen more than a few owners who have transformed a club with their money.

It's a coup for them to attract such a well regarded manager and they'll be hoping that a few exciting players will follow.

I guess that might or could swing things, but club wise, I don't think that there is that much of a progression for a manager moving from Southampton to Everton.
Possibly £200 million, at least £100 million and the money received if players are sold (the owner has said the money will go back into the transfer funds)...eg Lukaku & Stones which could be up to £100 million with just those two players.

I don't think he is as rich as Mike Ashley but I wouldn't wish that type of owner on any club. Maybe there is more money to be made in selling the ground.

Hey !
John Stones is going to be a legendary player . He's got the potential to be some way better tha Rio for starters and that's if he stays as a CB . Many expert pundits feel the same way about him . He's just turned 22 last week , he's so young and just had the misfortune of playing in such a bad Everton defence /team.

If he moves further upfield and morphs into a holding midfielder then the sky's the limit .
England wouldn't need to be playing the massively over-rated Dier for a kickoff .

Better than Rio? Let's hope that's not based on what he's done this season then?

I also don't agree with your assessment of Dier.

Didn't help with Martinez tactics...but Stones was part of that defence...but if he is a defender than the very least he should do is learn to defend.

Yeah, fully agree with this. Everton with a big wad of cash to spend is a tasty prospect for a manager like Koeman.
He probably thinks he has taken Southampton as far as he can and he sees Everton as nice opportunity to be successful and work with better players

Potential to be way better than Rio, calm down, Stones does have some good points to his game, but there is still a lot that he has to learn if he wants to get close to being anywhere near as good as Rio, nevermind being way better than him.

I dont think his game suits the Premier League. I have heard that Barcelona are interested in him and i think would be good in La Liga as you have more time on the ball

Michael is obviously sick of hearing that he states the obvious, so he's decided to state the absurd instead.

Though Barcelona seem to be shedding defenders at a rapid rate right now. Alves out the door with Mascherano and Barta to follow. He might get on because there's no one left!

Well having just sold Bartra to Dortmund, and with Mascherano perhaps on his way out as well, they are a little light in this area, so he might be able to get into the side due to having not much other competition in that area of the pitch.

If true, I wonder if Rodgers feels he should have waited a bit longer before agreeing to the Celtic deal, as he could have been a good option for Southampton.

I wonder who Southampton will turn to as far as a replacement for Koeman then?

Got to feel for Southampton and their fans if koeman does leave. They lose their best players and managers so frequently in the last 4 or 5 years.

Very impressive how they keep delivering in the league.

Quick look at the bookies favourite and it is showing :-

Frank de Boer is 2/1
Eddie Howe is 6/1
Andres Villas-Boas is 8/1
David Moyes is 8/1
Unai Emery is 12/1

Decent names there.
De boer would be another one who would use it as a stopover, but it doesn't really matter I suppose.

Thanks for this information, out of those options, the two that jump out at me, in terms of fitting Southampton the best would be De Boer and Emery.

Either of those two could do very well at Southampton I think.

So Everton signed a manager who was already at a club. Crazy world, eh?

Bet that's made Roy Hodgson worried knowing that can actually happen.

Maybe Roy can go to Southampton after the Euro's, I'm sure he knows he will be having to look for another job soon.

Nah he's got the Sunderland job if Allardyce gets sacked. Or Crystal Palace.
