Well done to Irish side Dundalk for reaching the final qualifying round of the Champions league..

As a sad contrast some tragic news from Maribor.

Leicester were poor in the first half but the half time substitutions livened things up, was quite impressed.

I was thinking of putting Musa into my fantasy team, if he played well, then I might just go through with it.

And Lukaku's reaction to the news is priceless.

Drinkwater will probably appeal to Big Sam I'd guess .

The EFL have treated league one and two disgracefully and the fans of the lower league clubs have every right to boycott it now that pl have muscled in on what was once a league one and two clubs only cup competition.

EFL Trophy is to be sponsored by checkatrade. Thought that a more illustrious sponsor would have been found now that PL have got involved

why have the premier league muscled in on it? Thought they were invited to let teams in?

The Premier League clubs haven't muscled in. I'd wager its not something they care about one way or the other.

Apart from there being a place at wembley i cant understand the motives for the premier league clubs being involved in what was a league one and two club only competition

If it was to give the england side a better chance of success then maybe the premier league clubs should look at having quotas at how many english born players start in senior games

The premier league clubs could if they wanted to give their gate money to the three clubs in their respective groups. Leicester city could definitely afford it. As could the other pl clubs

A boycott would show the EFL that they have made a big mistake and have underestimated resentment by fans. Too late for their to rethink this season but maybe not for 2017/2018

Glad to see Cristiano renewing his contract until 2020 or 2021 at Real de Madrid; not that it was a surprise.

I have to say, that knee injury of his worries me.

Looking forward to see the 3 finalists for the Fifa ballon d'or that will be announced in a few hours: my guess are :

1- Cristiano
2-Messi
3-Griezmann

Surely Suarez has to be in it?

West Ham's first game at the Olympic Stadium last night. Which is called the London Stadium at the moment but name will be changed by whoever owns the stadium, not West Ham.

Some West Ham fans loved the new stadium but quite a few said it's just not the same. Dugout is miles from the pitch, obviously the seats are as well, Upton Park well renowned for its intimidating atmosphere. One fan said they now sell popcorn which sums it up for him.

It looks bloody awful at that end. It looks half finished. Be gutted if it was my clubs stadium. They can have it.

Always thought it was a very unattractive stadium. The whole Olympic site has the look of a cold war reasearch facility.

I think it looks good as a stadium, not too sure if the atmosphere will be as intimidating as it could be at their old one however.

fans are too far from the pitch

but they did steal it from the taxpayer, so they cannot complain

Just like the other council stadium, once it gets some decent games there, people will begin to forget about how the football club got to play in it.
