I know you wanted him for yourself. What sort of fee would you have wanted to pay?

I think we also have to give Guardiola the credit that playing a DM in central defence is not an illustration of how desperate one of the richest clubs in the world are for defenders, rather its an actual tactic he likes to employ.

Eh?

In your previous post, you claimed that he'd be on more than twice that.

Which is it?

Every club would have wanted him, i certainly would have taken him at chelsea. United have a great player.

But that £89+5+20 million fee is what you pay for a 27 year old ronaldo.

Pogbas real value is around £60million. That's HUGE amount of money. United have paid way over the odds for him, but i'm sure there are explainable reasons for that.

If everton really want £75m for lukaku, i would laugh them out of the door. see ya!

The rumor is two hundred and ninety thousand pounds a week only.

You say that like its a negative but if that happens it means he has performed well for Man Utd and they will sell him for a profit, in which case they will be quite happy and the Spanish team will be cursing not just paying for him right now.

'The rumour'.

Ah, I see.

Still, doesn't really explain where you're getting this £290m figure from.

Nope he did not that is true.

He went to Utd because they are one of the biggest clubs in football, Who can offer him not only the money (a reason most people who chose a company to work for)he wanted but also the opportunity to play with top class players and who are likely to offer him the chance to be competitive when it comes to winning trophies

Are these similar to the rumor's that the transfer fee would be £120m etc?

Or that David Moyes would definitely be paid £30m when United sacked him...

The fee ended up being £89m + 5m addons + 20m fees, which is £114m , so whoever said £120m was almost spot on.

Not to go over old ground, but they didnt sack him.

What did they sack him for?

Moyes was entitled to have his contract still paid up, in full. If they brokered a deal to bring the contract to an end , thats still not a sacking. He was entitled to his FULL contract.

No. Juventus are paying the fees to Raiola, hence Juventus making a profit of 72.6m euros (their official statement confirmed this). So the person who said 120m was miles out.

They didn't broker any deal. He had a clause in his contract that said if he finished outside the top four he could be given a payoff of just a years salary when his contract was terminated.

You know the intricate workings of his contract then, I assume?

If that is true I would say Moyes is an absolute idiot for agreeing to such a contract.

It's definitely true, United's accounts included the payout. Guess he knew that if he refused he wouldn't get a shot at a top club. He obviously thought he'd be able to avoid slipping out of the top four with the title winning squad and a shitton of money to spend. I'd agree in a heartbeat in that situation.

Yep, and that year's salary was £480,000,000.

Oh, no, wait. I appear to have completely made that up, but presented it as fact. Still, seems to be the fashion, these days.

United released their official financial records for that year, confirming the payout.

One less disruption to worry about in John Stones, he wanted to go so it would have been selfish to keep him and have him unhappy had he been with Everton for the start of the season

Ashley Williams looking certain to join Everton, apparently has said his goodbyes to the Swansea squad and is heading to Merseyside for his medical

Fee apparently 12 million

Would have been nice to get that elusive 'marquee signing' before the season proper had started, but there's still another 3 weeks to go yet

Have to say Stones handled the situation very well. This year and last you didn't hear anything from him.

Good bit of business and a solid defender, could do with another though....Stones was a luxury Everton really couldn't afford to have this season...Holgate had to cover for him against Man Utd on Rooney's testimonial.

Do you think you'll get a marquee signing? Seen a lot of links but nothing concrete.

As well as performing well as an individual and making their money back on him, they would still want him to be helping towards them winning trophies though as you said earlier to be seen as a good buy wouldn't they?

Liverpool want pretty much the same amount they paid for Benteke to sell him. That's the market now.
