Both the Sheffield clubs, not just Wednesday have been out of the top flight for a while now.
The difference between the two is that Sheffield United had bounced around the divisions far more and have also gone back up since, Wednesday were an established top flight side for around a decade and haven't returned in almost 20 years. Similar story with Leeds, which is presumably why they were mentioned and Sheffield Utd not.

The Villa players looked depressed and worn out.

Di Matteo has a job on his hands.

Good draw for Accrington, a home derby match against PL Burnley.

Burton v Liverpool stands out from the next round of the draw I think.

Yes, exactly this.

Still, I'm kicking myself for not mentioning Oldham, Swindon, Barnsley and Bradford. They wouldn't have added to the point, either.

Even Celesti's Cov would have been more of a relevant club to add to Wednesday and Leeds than Sheffield United

Smaller club and never spent more than a handful of seasons in the top flight...granted some great achievements at the time though... Actually Forest I'd put up there with Leeds and Wednesday as a club who I saw as a big club who would never languish below the top flight... But thats just because of the time that I grew up watching football I suppose. I know prior to Clough they were pretty much anonymous

Perhaps it is just me, (and no offence to anyone who supports them at all), but I don't see them as in the same bracket as the two Sheffield clubs, who I think are more high profile, and have more of a pedigree then Coventry.

Fair enough... I just put them there as a team who spent over a decade in the top flight and who I saw as a perennial presence there... Sheffield United were never more than a yo yo club who prob spent three years max at any time there (have not checked the stats on that)

villa owner not happy

"Even we agreed to take the LC [EFL Cup] match as checking game, some players are not worth being given chance," the 39-year-old said..

The entire point is teams who were established in the top flight and have now spent years away from it. Which point do you think was being made, famous teams who've been relegated?

Coventry spent far longer consecutively in the top division prior to their relegation than the Sheffield clubs ever did.

I thought batdude would know this, considering he seems to have a crystal clear memory of everything that has happened in english football during his lifetime (and sometimes even before his conception!).

yesterday he said he contradicts himself a lot because he changes his mind based on new evidence. today, its because he has a bad memory.

he is now contradicting himself regarding why many people find his posts contradictory.

still, lets talk football

That might be one reason why I don't remember all of what I have previously said in my posts, as there are quite a lot of them!

if you dont remember your own opinions how do you expect others to take them seriously?

If you find that it happens as often as it does, then the obvious solution might be to post less.

Absolutely. However usually people would acknowledge thay held one opinion but through factors their opinions have changed.

What seems to be happening here is someone posting for the sake of it and never remembering what they actually said which means it wasnt actually their opinion in the first place and it was posting for postings sake.

And has been clearly shown here on previous pages it only takes a different colour shirt for an opinion to change with some people.

Oh are you referring to that poster that it was shown by a post by someone else this week a few months ago was salivating over prospect of John Stones signing for United and then the day after he signs for City said something like: "I'm glad we didn't sign him"?

A lot of young boys have that attitude when it comes to players, so I wouldn't be so harsh. Don't you remember when you were at school? Lighten up.
