How is this about me??

We were talking about Grey's horrible comments, not my past mistakes and errors that I have apologised for plenty of times.

Anyway, getting back to a footballing topic, who is looking forward to the Champions and Europa League draws this week?

I looking forward to see who Leicester get in the Champions League, and of course, who my team gets in the Europa League.

Which would be a perfectly fair question, if you hadn't have come out with this sanctimonious guff:

Seems he didn't really think before he posted and this is the end result.

I have no sympathy for him whatsoever.”

So because of my own past errors, I am not allowed to comment on someone who has said something appalling??

Of course you are, but I'm surprised that you have 'no sympathy whatsoever' for someone who has tweeted something that many people would find abhorrent.

You say that you've apologised, well so has Gray.

Yes, but maybe with a little more self-awareness and humility.

Well I think in having made a similar mistake as him in the past with the Heysel stuff, you might have had a little sympathy. There's also the fact that he has apologised, like you have.

He's an idiot for the things he's said, but maybe he should have had someone checking up on his social media to make sure nothing can come back to haunt him. He said that when he was at a non-league club. But when he was in the Championship or had come up to the Premier League with Burnley then maybe he should have had someone check it. Hopefully he really has matured as he said in his apology.

I did love the thing with Joey Barton. Barton tries to defend him.

Quote:
“I know @AndreGray7 as well as anyone. And he is 100% not homophobic. One of the nicest lads you could meet.”

Andre Gray, 09 Jan 12:

Quote:
“Joey Barton sucks dick. 100% batty boi.”

True friendship.

When people were suggesting he could be the next Jamie Vardy, I thought it was just about goals.

Gray is a disgusting homophobic person who happens to be good at football.

To say things like they should burn, or to use it as an insult shows you the type of person he is. The fa need to ban him, make an example.

I'm fed up up people who think an apology is enough, it makes everything ok. It doesn't. It's self serving, it's clearly not from the heart, faked.

There is no place for racism, sexism or homophobia in sport.

It doesn't need hysteria. He said some disgusting things and should face the consequences. That's all.

That's fine, but the consequences should be severe.

The fa should have sorted this out asap, as soon as the views were brought to public attention.

9 game ban.

If a 9 game ban is the punishment for such behaviour then I agree. If you are plucking it out of the air as a suitable punishment then not so much.

Any actual evidence of that?

9 games. That would be ridiculous.

John Terry got a 4 match ban for offending Ferdinand. How does what Gray did deserve a much harsher punishment?

As is often the case with issues like this the punishment is often plucked out the air and rarely thought of from a sensible and logical perspective when being discussed.

What will more then likely happen will be The FA will look at the case, Look at the rules regarding this issue and look at punishments that are allowed in line with those rules.

Some might think those rules are not strong enough when dealing with issues like this but that is a case for the FA to change those rules and amend them accordingly.

I know that's aimed at codeblue but I think it's obviously just damage limitation from Gray. If you'd written some disgusting stuff on twitter and had since moved on from being that person then wouldn't you go back and delete those tweets before having it brought to your attention 4 years later? All he seems to be sorry for is that it's caught up with him.

I knew that as soon as codeblue posted that that Terry would get dragged into this by someone. I don't condone what Terry was supposed to have said but it was said in the heat of the moment after being goaded himself by Ferdinand. What Gray said was worse, not only in content itself but also the fact that it wasn't done on the spur of the moment and he had ample opportunity to retract it at the time but didn't.

Correct

I'm sure he is sorry, but sorry for himself !

You cannot hold views as extreme as that and brush them off so easily. They must be so deeply engrained in a person, to want to burn, set fire to, gay people.

Imagine if it was found that Jose, big Sam, Pogba or Diego Costa wrote that gay males should be set on fire - you cannot imagine the uproar and publicity. A fake apology would not be accepted by the fans and the U.K. Media.

This player, gray, should face the same punishment. Just because he is not well known doesn't mean he should not be facing a 9 game ban.

If this isn't worth such a ban, what is?

I have hardy said anything like what he has said though.

It is one thing saying that Suarez is not as good as Grant Holt, another what he said, (yes I got that totally and utterly wrong, before anyone uses against me yet again).

Unlike Gray it didn't take me four years to say sorry for my mistakes, if (or when) I do, I own up to them straight away.
I don't wait years to do so.

So I don't quite like the link that is being painted here, of me and him being like each other, we are not in any way.

No one is brushing them off, simply saying there must be some structure to the punishment that is based on more than how outraged a person happens to feel.

Nobody is referring to the Holt > Suarez faux pas.

I'm sure that you know what is actually being referred to.

I was simply using it as an example of one of my past errors, I am sure that I have made plenty of errors in the past, however as I say, I don't take four years to apologise for them.
When I have said something wrong, I apologise almost immediately, (in fact shockingly I have been accused of saying sorry on too many occasions!) so nothing like Gray, so I am nothing like him at all, so it would be nice if the links could stop right now.

"imagine" someone saying something is not really relevant.

The only relevant issues are the rules and laws regarding this issue.

What is your formula for arriving at the number 9? Why not 8? why not 10?

Have you done any actual research into such views being "engrained" in a person?
