Partly because it makes it obvious every day that the matches are on that they were unable to find a sponsor which you'd think they wouldn't want to shout about

And if you're going to call it the EFL Cup why not just call it 'The League Cup' which 99% of fans probably do anyway !

........and I'm not even keen on the monikers EFL and EPL........we're in England. if we talk about 'the' Premier League it's obvious which league we're talking about. Surely you should only add a national adjective if you're talking about a foreign league”

But the brand is a worldwide one.

So people watching it in other countries are talking about a foreign league

Actually, forget it. I don't want to continue this off-topic nonsense anymore.

For the record I'm not fussed on it being called the EFL Cup. The "League Cup" for me, bit old fashioned maybe but there you go.”

I seen it called the EFL Cup recently on Bet365 and thought that was the EPL Cup. Didn't realise the Capital One Cup was no more. That only lasted a year?

With no sponsor then might as well just stick with the League Cup, which is what I refer to it as anyway. I used to call it the Carling Cup until they changed to COC. I can't see "EFL Cup" catching on among football fans.

Doesn't matter, in my book.

It's always been 'the' Football League, and 'the' Premier League. It's still 'the' FA. It was the first football league, and the first football association. That's the brand, it doesn't need the 'English' prefix, in my opinion.

Plus with the English prefix it doesn't take into account that Welsh clubs also play in the league.

Welsh clubs take part in the English league and cups, they will never have to reference Wales in the name for it to be accurate.

It doesn't need taking into account. The Welsh clubs that you're referring to play in the English league pyramid.

West Ham go out of the Europa League at the qualifying stage again, their attitude towards the competition is pathetic.

All that effort during the season to qualify and then they limp out with a whimper.

Second season in a row is it not that they have somewhat underperformed at this level.

Still I suppose they can always use the old mantra "now we can concentrate on the league", to perhaps requalify for the same stage once again next summer!

The new ground will be their undoing in my opinion. They have gone from a tight awkward place that no one really fancied going to, to the most open stadium in the league that all the bigger clubs will love playing on. They have chucked away a big advantage that they had and I suspect that will be reflected in their results at least to begin with.

Thought theyd have a poorer season this season all along, new ground or not

Which would mean they have finished in a top 6 place which is a decent launching pad when the money from the new ground (and new tv deal) starts to come into the club.
