I don't really think you can say too much bad about his work at Everton overall in fairness. But everything since has been a disaster.
Moyes is often lauded for his work at Everton but he didn't win a single trophy in his time there, and it's not like he didn't have a decent team. Even Martinez managed to win an FA Cup with Wigan.

I wonder how many double-takes will be made in the future by people reading that David Moyes was once the manager of Manchester United.

As time marches on it becomes even more obvious what an absolute brainfart of a decision that was.

To be fair to Moyes, he did pretty well at Everton with little resouces. The idea that giving him a bigger club with more money is the next logical step. Being a friend of Fergie helped as well though.

It just didn't work out for him. It happens. Van Gaal didn't find it any easier & neither is Mouinho at the moment.

If you cannot do well at United having spent 89 million on one player, and a team worth over half a billion, when can you?

Like I've said on the United thread, players should fit the team not the other way round.

You saw what happened with England when Roy tried to fit the names into the team rather than those who play well within a certain system.

Chucking a load of big names in and hoping it will be enough......

Hughes probably has the next game to save his skin.

Wonder if his "religion" will prevent him living in his expensive mansion, driving his sports car, wearing his gold watch etc.

Some footballers are Muslim for show only. Who was the Muslim footballer who wouldn't wear a wonga shirt but was caught in casinos?

Man City look to have the League wrapped up already, playing sensational football, strong squad and winning games. Can't see them being stopped, especially with Gundogan just getting fit, Kompany still to come back and Sane only starting to get game time.

Id bet it is, theres no way anyones beating Man City to the title all the other teams arent very good.

Arsenal - living off the hype of the Henry and Bergkamp days, have played average football with terrible soft defending for a decade, no character about them. Bottlers and happy to settle for 4th

Tottenham - average outfit who benefitted from "big" teams being crap.

Leicester - see above

Liverpool - hit and miss, I think their main problem is they have a lot of players who seem to think they are better than they are but they dont produce the goods consistently

Chelsea - too dull and dour, stale, Hazard starting to look like Joe Cole, defenders with no pace. Teams will take points off them for fun again.

Man Utd - no leadership, no style of play, individuals some poor some great mixed together soft centred through midfield and defence will probably lose a good 8-10 League games this season.

Everton - will do well to finish 4th, decent team close to Spurs and Leicester now.

All these I mentioned I bet would bite your hand off if offered 4th place just now as they know thats their limit. Where as Man City know they are guarenteed 4th at worst, they could play poorly and finish 4th with ease but with them playing well then they are out of sight.

Stoke and Sunderland play each other on October 18th. You might get your answer then. Would be surprised if Moyes is sacked that quickly though. I'd say Hughes is under more pressure at the moment, especially considering Stoke aren't even a bad side on paper.

If someone gives up a lucrative career in football at 24 it suggests he might take it seriously.

True, but there's rather a large gap between taking charge of a bigger club than Everton and taking charge of the world's biggest club after their most successful manager ever has retired.

I think hindsight shows that United were too fixated on trying to find Ferguson MkII and not realising that that kind of "find a budding manager and build him up" approach was no longer appropriate for a club as big as Man Utd in the modern football world.

Mind you, I suppose you could argue that virtually any manager who followed Ferguson would have been on a hiding to nothing.

Watford haven't beaten Man Utd since 1986, didn't think we'd be getting stats like this with Mourinho at the helm, Moyes, yes, LVG, maybe but not Mourinho.
Not played each other many times since then though.

Redmond needs to stop leaning back when he strikes the ball, twice he has hit the ball over and high now
He regularly did that at Norwich too.

...and ludicrously petulant.

Spurs should be out of sight in this match by now.
I think he tried to pull out of that challenge, to be fair to him.
