I always found every season was as important as the one before, just because we'd won the league numerous times didn't make losing it the way we did to City any less awful. Jason's justification for his stance strikes me as some kind of deep pessimism, which I suppose is perfectly understandable coming from a Spurs fan!
As for your latter point, I can see why you'd hope that is true, but we're still in a pretty good position. Loads of cash, decent squad, just need to get the right manager. It's only been two and a half years for us, not two and a half decades
