he is good though?

Has to be one of the biggest flops so far considering the hype around him.

ddg made a howler, but united should have been down to 10 men after that god awful herrera assault

A flop after 6 weeks.

Brilliant. Only on DS.

"assault"

It was late, that's all. Should have been a red but it wasn't malicious.

If it were a Chelsea player, it would have been "mis-timed".

A united player gets away with a clear straight red, and you turn it to chelsea trying to wind me up. Does this really add to the debate?

TheSloth is right though you don't help yourself with your comments.

It does, as we've seen many a challenge from John Terry over the years like that. I felt Hargreaves summed up that challenge correctly. It looked bad, it could have been a lot worse had Herrera followed through with the tackle. He backed out and just caught Allen which was a booking.

However, as I said at half time, that ref seemed star struck today and had a poor game in general, whilst not doing anything outrageously wrong.

By modern standards, and under the current interpretation of the laws the red card should have been shown to Herrera. But I think we go a bit over the top with this "Send him off. ref" mantra.

Was Joe Allen really hurt..? Is he fighting for his life in an oxygen tent right now..? Nah. At worst, he got a few stud marks down his leg. They'll hurt in the morning but he's a big brave soldier. He'll live.

My dad used to get studs raked down his back every time he, very naughtily, killed the ball by lying over it in the ruck, playing rugby for Blackheath years ago. He used to laugh the cuts, bruises and lacerations off, saying "They're not scars. They're medals". Wounds received in action (REALLY taking one for the team) and stoically borne. Football used to produce big men like that too. But not any more.

Yes, I know, players have to be protected or none of the insurance companies will cover them. I know the game has to protect high value players from injury or their agents will kick up a fuss. But a sense of proportion, please.

Allen was fouled. The tackle was bad and merited a red card under the current interpretation of the law. But I think the current interpretation is part of the problem. It has created a climate of hysteria over anything that might inflict anything remotely resembling a bruise on a player. God forbid anybody should actually ever be really hurt..!!

Perhaps one day football will become a physical contact game again. But I'm not holding my breath.

Man United may as well play with 10 men as play Rooney. He plays deep even when they are looking for a goal, he gives the ball away. I acknowledge that he did one jink and clipped the ball in with his left foot, but overall he offers no threat to the opposition and they must be dleighted when they see him coming on. I almost feel sorry for him...

man city's defending is a joke.

any team that attack them will win

City may as well put David Silva in goal with the amount of time they give the ball to the keeper and expect him to distribute under pressure

Bravo is such a clown, anyone must fancy their chances getting a goal against him.

Wonder if City will replicate what they did last season with faltering performances after a fantastic start

They certainly don't look the same side without De Bruyne

I'm not sure whats going on with yellow cards this season , a yellow card it seems is a yellow card , unless you already have a yellow then it becomes just a warning

Ive seen it so many times already this season referee's not giving a second yellow, is this a new directive or something

Tottenham have been incredible so far. Has Brendan Rodgers found City out? Because Spurs are following the Celtic blueprint.

Chaotic moments in this match. Everything is frantic. Chance for Spurs to kill it off from the spot now.
